Recordings Orphaned, Cannot Recover

I noticed a couple of versions back, after I updated my Sage, a rather large number of records of one specific favorite were orphaned. So, in order to view them, I had to use the Media Playback feature, and just browse to the files.

Well, after updating to the last couple of builds, I had hoped that the feature advanced_video_file_recovery=true would be the solution, but apparently not.

Basically, I had 31 recordings of a Favorite. After an update to Sage (probably about two versions ago, it listed only 6 of the 31 in my Recordings. If I view the Favorite, it shows the current 6, and the past 23 airings, all unwatched (I had reset the Watched). Checking my recording folder, all the files are there, and in the same folder - orphaned and listed ones - so I could not see why this would happen.

I exited Sage, stopped the Sage Service, then I added the listing advanced_video_file_recovery=true, since it was not in my properties file (I did search with Find). I then ran the Sage application, it took a while to reopen (maybe a minute) and then I checked, but still just the same 6 are shown.

Reading the same forum message as where I got the original Help from
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...599#post265599
it suggested that the ProgramID's be added back. But looking at the files, they all appear to be there.

Any clue or suggestions as to why these are no longer listed, or how to get them back?

Below are screenshots, just to help show what I'm dealing with.

As the post explaining that property says: this property can only work if the files are already in the database as existing recordings; if they aren't already recordings, there is nothing for that property to work with.

Check the section of that post titled Restoring Recordings based on Airing ID -- you need to use nielm's webserver to look for the airings in the database to get the airing ID listed in the webserver. This number is what needs to match the number that is part of the filename.

If the airings were lost in an old enough version of SageTV, the detailed info for the shows could have been dumped from the database. You appear to have 23 past airings in SageTV, but many more files on the disk. If the airing isn't even in the database any more, then there is nothing for you to restore or link the files to unless you add the info manually for the imported files in the web server.

Every time you update the software you have to go into the SageTV Service Control and reset it from a local service to a user with a password that is also in the Administrators group. I noticed the list of recordings looks like it is coming from a network drive.

That was a snapshot from a non-sage PC just hitting the shared recordings folder. But either way, I always run the service as Administrator.

Still, it was odd all those were dropped by an upgrade, since I didn't move the files, reload the PC, etc. Just updated the Sage software, and they were no longer listed.

AND are you saying you double-checked the SageTV Control service applet? Evey update/install resets that back to the local service. (It's a Microsoft thing)

Yes. Since I had to revisit that for the whole 'advanced_video_file_recovery=true' process, I had just yesterday checked the service options.

But again, my recording folders, as specified in Sage, are local D and E drive paths - no unc's are used.
