No audio in Ipod conversions
Hi,
I've tried converting 2 recordings to play on our iPod touch. I've tried "medium" and "high" encodings, and neither seem to play properly. They symptoms I see are: - iTunes / Quicktime: Audio stops playing after a few seconds - iPod: No audio at all - Sage HD100 extender: No audio at all - mplayer: plays OK, but complains about the audio: Opening audio decoder: [faad] AAC (MPEG2/4 Advanced Audio Coding) FAAD: compressed input bitrate missing, assuming 128kbit/s! AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 128.0 kbit/9.07% (ratio: 16000->176400) Selected audio codec: [faad] afm: faad (FAAD AAC (MPEG-2/MPEG-4 Audio) decoder) The file details for the original are: File Format: MPEG2-PS[MPEG2-Video 4:3 480i@29.97fps, AC3@48kHz Stereo, AC3@48kHz Stereo] Files: /var/media/tv/SesameStreet-ChrisTeachesElmoHowtoBowl-58299-0.mpg File Playlists: [wvx] [m3u] [pls] Size: 1.75GB And for the converted file: File Format: Quicktime[MPEG4-Video 4:3 512x384@30fps, AAC@44.1kHz Stereo und] Files: /var/media/tv/SesameStreet-ChrisTeachesElmoHowtoBowl-58299-0.mp4 File Playlists: [wvx] [m3u] [pls] Size: 0.88GB I'm running Sage 6.3.10 on Linux, under Sun's jre1.6.0_04 Any advice? Thanks, Drew |

I think there is something wrong with the ffmpeg which ships with 6.3.10 for linux. If I use my custom compiled ffmpeg, I don't loose sound. I can't simply replace the Sage version with my custom one because Sage passes -stdintctl which the non-Sage ffmpeg does not accept.
Has anybody here converted ATSC 480i recordings to ipod using SageTV for Linux? Is there an older version which actually works? Thanks, Drew |

I would file a bug and request the ffmpeg source. I had to do this in the past.
Also, which profile are you using? I wrote an iphone/touch profile and it is posted on the forums. http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...54&postcount=3 Lastly, not meaning to thread jack, but it is relevant.. I want to be able to take the comskip output and use the end of commercial segments to mark chapter points in my transcoded videos for skipping commercials. The only thing I have been able to find on linux which is reported to work is: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.p...forum_id=59136 But I can't get this patch to apply against the CVS source. Any pointers appreciated. B
