Placeshifter installation
These might be trivial questions.
Are there somewhere documented steps for Placeshifter installation and set up? Is there any customization to Placeshifter (I mean is SageMC applicable to the Placeshifter)? Also how to install Placeshifter on USB key Also what need to be done to Sage TV to make it a server?

See Appendix N in the SageTV PDF manual for general installation/setup info.
Like any other client, Placeshifter can use custom STVs. See the SageMC forum section for details about that interface. - Andy
