Backlit remote for HD-100 and TV
Ok, so this is my first post as I am a new member to the SageTV tribe. I am currently 'testing' with a HD Homerun and a few HD-100's with OTA. So far I am pretty happy and stumbling through stuff.
My question now is that I am looking for a fairly inexpensive remote to replace the HD-100 remote primarily for a backlight. I'd like the remote to control at least most of the HD-100 functions as well as basic TV control (switch inputs, volume, etc). I guess for OTA I also need a remote with a dash key as so far if I just press a number by itself (like 4), it simply stays put instead of going to the first matching channel, like 4-1. I have not really seen anything that meets these criteria. I'd like to keep the cost 'reasonable' as its just for late night use in the master bedroom. I pretty much had the Tivo peanut down but the HD-100 remote is killing me, so a backlight would be huge. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

You do know that the HD-100 can be setup to use your Tivo peanut remote, don't you? |

I have a logitech Harmony 525 and have been really pleased with it.
I had to teach it all the keys for Sage, but this only took about 15 minutes. It also allows you to program the volume buttons to work your AV Amp (or TV) rather than the sage volume. It has a backlight, and only cost me £35

Nope, didn't realize that, but even though I am more used to the peanut, I still prefer a backlight.

Thanks for that link, but I guess what I am trying to say is I was just more used to the peanut from the D* DVR but I still prefer a different/perhaps better remote with a backlight and dash key - unless there is another way to change channel to say 4-1 or 7-1, etc besides the EPB or up/down.

Have a look at Logitech Harmony remotes. There are a bunch of different models in various price ranges and configurations. And at least some of them have backlighting.
If you are looking for something cheap, there are a number of One-for-all remotes that have backlighting as well. Aloha, Mike

MX-500
or if you can spring for it, MX-850 (Aeros) which is programmed by computer. Opus has written config files for it too you can just download the HD-100 buttons directly to it. |
