Sage Auto Configure

Howdy all,

I really like Sage, and I'm trying to justify its use as a DVR in professional installations. In order to minimize the time it takes to configure a home, would it be possible to write a script or program that will auto configure Sage with say an HDHomerun? This would need to detect the tuner and set up the available channels on its own rather than requiring a user to do it.

Thanks,

Target

If you use the latest beta from Sage and SiliconDust it should do that for you now.

Oh wow. I just installed Sage 3 months ago so I haven't been keeping up to date figuring (apparently mistakenly) that nothing could have changed in that time. Great news! I'll go check it out.

The user (or setup personnel) will still need to perform a couple of 'scans', In HDHR verify correct stationIDs and make a selection of clear-QAM stations; in Sage, selecting the tuners and performing a scan. So *someone* still has to get their mind dirty with a setup routine.

If multiple systems were being set up in the same operating area then I suppose a script could be written to copy .xlm .scn .frq files, touch sage.properties to add tuners and zap2it/physical/logical channel properties... but when the lineup changes, then what? Send out a update script? Could be worth it if you had more than 40 installs. I see a lot of Linux installs utilizing wizard scripts to set up components.
