Adding shares in WHS
hello All,
I am another wanna be convert to SageTV from MCE. I have just set up a WHS box, with some tuners and the Sage TV server. Both the WHS and Sage are unregistered at this time, because I wanted to see if the current system was beefy enough to handle it. I have worked with it enough to see the differences between Sage and MCE and think that Sage is the way to go. The main problem I am having is getting access to the media on my file server. I run WIn2003 server(32) on it and can access the system from the WHS box. I mapped the movie share to the WHS box by both UNC path and also as a drive letter from information I picked up from the forum here. Sage will not see share for either way I mapped it. I can see my files both ways so I don't think it is an account problem. I am wondering if the reason i can't see the share is because I am using a trial version of Sage? I want to make sure Sage can play My movies before I order the HD extender and license. Any help would be greatly appreciated and or a pointer to a forum thread I may have missed. Thanks, Craig |

It sounds like maybe the SageTV service is in use, but isn't configured to log in as a user w/a password who has permission to access the network location. And, the service cannot access mapped driver letters; it has to use UNC paths for network locations.

SageTV can run as a service on WHS. Make sure the user account on WHS is a member of the Administrator group and has a password. The same user would also need to exist on the Windows 2003 server box and be in the same workgroup as you WHS box.

You may also need to turn on Guest access on your WHS.
