MP3 playback from linux server?

Hola folks,
I just set up my SageTV server (I downloaded and installed the latest beta as I'm intending to use a Hauppauge HD-PVR to record. Host Distro is Ubuntu 8.04 x64 server edition. I purchased the windows client so I could test things out while I was waiting for hardware to arrive. I went through the Advanced Linux OEM setup instructions, and everything appeared to work. I installed the 6.4.8 release candidate as I am intending to use the hd-pvr.

I tested playing videos off youtube, and that works flawlessly, but attempting to play MP3 files out of my music collection gives me a display as if it's playing, but no sound whatsoever.

I'm guessing it's a server-side library issue, but I checked /var/sagetv/server/sagetv_0.txt, and there's actually no messages besides io error exceptions from when I close the windows client. Since sage isn't a binary, I can't use ldd to find missing linked library dependencies either.

So.... where should I look next?

Minor update: ok, so I can use ldd.... I did so, and the only libraries it didnt seem to know where they were were the shared libraries installed in /opt/sagetv/server. I added a line to my ld.so config, and that's gone away. So.....

The problem was not server-side after all. Turned out to be AC3filter on my windows system muxing the MP3 sound off to /dev/null apparently. Uninstalled AC3filter, music started working. Reinstalled and reconfigured it, and it continued to work. Looks like Sage on my 64-bit linux box is happy
