HDHomerun Tuning
Just this week as I'm trying to record season premiers of HD programs I notice my HD Homerun is no longer recording. I decided to just update everything to make sure it works.
I've just upgraded Sage and the Homerun software to the latest versions. I've followed the instructions at least 5 or 6 times now uninstalling everything and doing it over and over. I just can't get the Homerun to work with Sage anymore. The first time I set it up even though I had to map the channels manually it was a snap. I've run the setup in the HDHomerun application, it has all the proper names, Guide Numbers, and the enable boxes are checked. When I click "view" I can watch the channel. Then I fire up sage and try to add the tuner. It takes longer than expected to scan for channels (I thought it says it should be fast, it's about a minute). After scanning it's got basically every channel turned on so I disable them and just enable the channels that I know work. I see the channel mapping is set the same as in the HDHomerun editor. For example Fox shows [81-2] next to the call letters and in the HDHomerun it says CH81-2. However, when I click on "view" in sage it hangs for a long while, shows a bar saying "Signal Strength: 100%" and the box eventually pops up with "No Signal". I've checked and the HDHomerun Manager doesn't show either tuner doing anything when this happens. It does however show the tuners come to life if I press "view" in the HDHomerun Edit Window. This has to be a problem with sage because the HDHomerun software can tune to all the channels just fine. What more can I do? I'm at a loss here (and by loss I mean I'm loosing my HD shows that have just started showing!) Edit: I just added a single channel even though it wouldn't show up in the preview window to see if that helped. It's channel 905 and it tells me "No Encoders can tune to the selected station" When I click on it.

Are you are referring to these instructions as the ones you followed?
HDHR setup for Windows From your older posts, I think you are a SageMC user... if so, did you manually switch to the default STV, SageTV3.xml, and not the customized version of that STV which SageMC uses for setup? What version of the HDHR software are you using? Is it set for Digital Cable or Digital Antenna? And while configuring the tuners in SageTV, did you choose Cable or Antenna? There should be .scn & .frq files in your SageTV directory... would you zip those up & attach them to a post here? - Andy

Well thanks for the reply Opus I could answer the questions except I finally managed to figure it out.
I found that my HDHomerun tuners were listed in the "do not use" list in the sage.properties file. I was installing them based on IP address which looks like a carry over from long ago (I've had the homerun a while). After deleting them from that property 2 new HDHomerun tuners now show up and they configure correctly. What would be nice is if anyone that understands the old setup and the new could tell me what might have triggered this. I wasn't trying to actively update anything it just stopped working. The only thing I can think of updating was the HDHomerun software because it does it automatically. Should I turn that off somehow? I really don't want anything changing until I sit down for a planned upgrade.
