Fellow calibration freaks, setup your recordings!

FYI to all out there who care to calibrate their system. HDnet is airing their test pattern "show" again the next two Saturdays. So setup a manual recording or a favorite to catch it.

And if you're using an HD PVR, maybe plan to be there when it airs to run through the capture color calibration in Sage while it's airing.

Show is "HDNET Test Patterns", on HDnet @ 9:00am CDT Sat, Sept 20 and 27.

Can you not run said color calibration from a recording?

Well, depends on what you're trying to calibrate. If you're trying to calibrate your capture device, the recording will include whatever calibration errors there were when it was recorded. Thus you need to be there and adjust the capture settings while it's recording.

If you know your capture device is setup right (or don't care), then you can use the recording to calibrate your display.

The other option is after recording, you can make some educated guesses how to tweak the capture settings.
