Biggest question to answer: Does it fix the audio sync problem on 1080i recordings on the extender?

I have installed the new drivers however I'm not getting any video or audio when I select Component + SPIDF for the HDPVR. When I switch it back to Component I get audio and video but it is still 2.0. I'm not sure if I did something wrong of if Sage needs to be updated to take advantage of the new drivers.

That's an important question. According to Geektonic, the default is still two channel audio, and you have to select 5.1. So, does Sage need to add a selection for that?

Brent has that part wrong by default it 2.0 audio if there is no 5.1 but if there is 5.1 it will recod 5.1 audio you don't need change any thing and yes it in sagetv as 5.1.
Some of this depend on how you setup your settop box
For Example on Dishnetwork
Dolby Digital/PCM
Dolby Digital Only
PCM Only

You want to use Dolby Digital/PCM option

Thanks, I got them. Just had to be persistant.

Do these drivers fix anything other than 5.1 audio? Such as the known issue w/ 720p recording or the "No Signal" errors in Sage when the device stops responding? Fixing the "No Signal" error is 10 times more important to me than DD 5.1.

oops. Just corrected that in the post. I wrote much of that blog post many weeks ago when I thought the beta I was working with was about to be released. Must have changed in the meantime. I just installed this driver and will be testing it out tonight and report back.

I haven't installed this version yet, but I've been using an earlier beta driver and haven't had a single recording that seemed out of sync nor one that had the stop frame effect where only a few frames per second played. Hopefully, this version will work as well in that regard too.

Now, if I could just get them to stop locking up every so often... but I have no idea if this newer driver could have any effect on that.

There are other fix in the drivers like 720x480 which use to be really bad at record to piont that would stop recording and etc.
I never had that problem with 720p recording so best thing to do is try them out and you fimd any problem make a post on shspvr forum so the software dev can look at that..

So far so good. I was getting 384k Dolby Digital 2.0 out of my recordings which would seem to indicate it's recording the bitstream.
