Huh? I'm very confused by the above post. I just installed this driver, switched my STB to output DD 5.1, recycled everything and flipped on Monday Night Football on ESPNHD. My receiver is reporting a Digital 5.1 signal, which it never did before with the HD PVR, and the game certainly sounds like DD 5.1 to me! As far as I can tell, it's working just fine.

I fix the problem and here the fix
I needed to change HDPVR in source detail the input type to component+spdif which is something I forgot to do
I never took the old RCA Audio off line

No luck for me so far. As soon as I switched Sage to Component + SPDIF I couldn't get any signal from the HD-PVR. Now I can't even get a picture in TME capture module (with Sage closed).

Does anyone know yet if the Left/Right analog audio reversal issue has been fixed with this driver update? I still have a few hours of Super-VHS home movies to transfer off tape. I'll load the driver tomorrow but am curious.

3 different tests in SageTV with this tonight. 5.1 is working via the SPDIF. It automatically switches between 5.1 and 2.0 as would be expected. So far no problems at all. Next up I'll test with my HD100 extender playback.

By the way Total Media Extreme supposedly has an update coming soon. I couldn't get it to playback anything from the HD-PVR since doing the driver update - but SageTV handles it fine.

The only problem I'm having is a loud static sound at the beginning of every recording and after every channel change. It only lasts a half second or so, but it's shockingly loud and really annoying. It seems to work well other than that.

I was getting the same. I switched my SPDIF cable and now it is working fine. You may also want to check to make sure that you have it plugged into the SPDIF in instead of out.

I just have a loud pop at the beginning of a channel change, but I do have 5.1.

It also takes about 5 secs for the audio to come in after a channel change.

Thanks; actually I did realize earlier that it was hooked into the out SPDIF and fixed it.

But still big problems with the HD100. Mostly I get no sound. On occasion I get 5.1 sound, but the video doesn't play smoothly. Right now, I am getting 10-20 seconds of silence between loud and grating 1 second screeches/pops.

I'm guessing there needs to be a firmware update for the HD100.

Now I'm getting CNN with smooth video and 5.1 audio. I love it... but switching to other channels, all messed up... back to CNN, now messed up. Only the occasional screech/pop on audio and video runs for 2 seconds, pauses for two second, runs for two seconds, etc.

Haven't tried my client PC yet, but the HD100 needs to work smoothly

Anyone working smoothly with the HD100?

Argghhhhh... that means just me... that means more hours of troubleshooting.

I know, if I wanted "just works" I should hhve bought a TIVO. It just seems like I am cursed with this thing.

Am I correct to summarize that the current state is the following:

You can capture DD2.0 and 5.1 using an SPDIF cable as long as you change the SPDIF settings in the source setup.
More than one user has commented that there is a loud "pop" occurring upon a channel change or beginning of a recording.

So I see that 5.1 audio is working, but what about the audio/video sync in 1080i? I haven't had a chance to install the new drivers....

So far its working pretty well for me - even on the HD100.

I'm getting a quiet click (not a pop like others have reported) when changing channels. Also the screen freezes for a second or two after the channel change, but that's much like it was with the old driver.

I've also not seen any audio sync problems using 1080i with the HD-PVR & HD100.

I've installed the drivers on my WHS machine and unfortunately, I get no video or sound with the new drivers. Here's how I tried:
1) Stop SageTV server service
2) run hwclear program
3) reboot
4) install new drivers using HowToInstallDriver.exe (or something like that)
5) reboot (for good measure)
6) try to use sage client (without changing audio setup)
7) change input to component + SPDIF and test

No luck..I just get the "No Signal" message. Odd.....

Perhaps I need to change the audio output on my DirecTV box before I'll get a picture? I plan to try this tonight.

Installation Instructions:
  1. Download the new driver from SHSPVR (will be up on the Hauppauge Support Page shortly)
  2. Unzip the driver update
  3. Run "hcwdriverinstall.exe"
You may want to check the set top box to ensure it is using the proper audio output

Try power cycling the HD PVR that's worked for me when Sage couldn't talk to it.

For me there was also:
4. Crash PC reboot and all is well

I got this on my first attempt as well. Also using WHS.

Per my prior post, things still are far from working properly, but I am getting a signal now and at least some sort of sound on some channels. I rebooted everything a couple of times, turned the HD-PVR off and on, etc. to at least get to this point.

I didn't run hwclear though nor am I familiar with it. I didn't see it in the driver download. Do I need to run it?

I did notice when installing the new drivers in one case it said (paraphrasing) "you are about to replace a newer version of a the file XXX with an older one." I accepted that as ok, maybe I shouldn't have? Did anyone else notice that?

Does anyone know if using TMT on the machien which the HD-PVR is attached will work enough to show a picture?

I ask because I was thinking about taking baby steps and hooking up a moinitor/keyboard/mouse to the WHS machine to see if it works locally on that machine. It would be nice to know if it works before I go throught the work....
