HD-PVR files do not playback
I just install a place shifter license. When I watch anything it says "TRIAL" on the screen even though the license is entered. Recordings from the HD-PVR are not playing back on the placeshifter client. Is this a failing on the server? Is the server not able to convert H.264 content?

Here's the thing. Video conversions all fail and it appears transcoding in the placeshifter is failing. When using the placeshifter for Mac or Windows, H.264 content recorded on an HD-PVR I get black screen, no sound, and the time line does advance. So, where do I look to troubleshoot? |

You don't. h.264 doesn't work on the placeshifter client yet. It works on the PC Client with the appropriate decoder or the HD100 Media Extender.

Work Around?
Does anyone have a workaround for this? Streaming HD to other computers in the house was one of the things I was looking forward to the most. Is there a solution for linux streaming H.264 across your local network? Are sage developers working at all on resolving this?

if you are on your LAN - use the Sage Client (if on a PC) or the HD100 (HD Extender). Both supposedly work (I don't have HD-PVR to test it yet since I do use placeshifter when traveling).

The SageTV PC client will work if you have the correct decoder. (Arcsoft or Cyberlink are recommended.) Any HD100 works natively but are out of stock in the SageTV store.

Do you have any idea when the good folks at Sage may be making this active, since they seem to be all over the HD-PVR with their other hardware/software products. And, what, to your knowledge, is the technical hurdle that must be jumped? thanks |
