i have problems since the beta and 1.1 release. my recordings are dropping some video, but audio continues. so the frame freezes, the audio continues, and then the video catches back up. i would say it happens about once an hour or so. its not the extender, its the recording. I used to never have recording issues until the upgrade to 5.1

Your sure everything is plugged in correctly? Make sure you don't have your RCA audio input connected. Is your cable box set to output Dolby Digital? I was already recording via SPDIF but I had to change the output in my SA cable box from, I think, Other to Dolby Digital. As "Other" it converts everything to PCM.

The drivers are a little weird. You need to clear out all your hauppage drivers via hwclear.exe on the cd, then reinstall them.

My D2 unit with the latest 1.1 drivers (running from my WHS server to HD100 extender) seems to be working well for recording.
I still frequently have trouble with live TV channel changing. Frequently I get a signal lost error and have to power cycle the HD-PVR to get video back, and reboot the whole server to get channel changing ability back (IR blaster stops working). Obviously, this is not fun. Others' experience? |

I've had more problems with channel changing in live tv with this new driver, don't remember that with the old one. I have developed the habbit of waiting a few seconds before going to another channel.
Hate the CLICK POP audio after chan change but have adjusted delay to avoid. Recordings are stable though but I can't get smooth text crawl on my Vista Client (not noticable in picture, only in text). My XP Client renders flawlessly.

If you are having trouble with the 1.1 drivers and 5.1 audio, here is how I installed the new driver:
downloaded driver, extracted contents to folder went to device manager, located the HD PVR, right clicked on the HD PVR, clicked properties, clicked driver tab, clicked update driver had wizard install from a specific location and browsed to the folder where the new driver was located. Driver installed fine and 5.1 is working. I don't use the IR recvr or blaster so don't know if this way will help for those issues. I didn't run hcwclear or run the install utility that came with the driver. Hope this helps some of those with 5.1 issues.

I just got the HD-PVR on the weekend, I got a Rev C2 version and am using the 1.1 drivers.
I have had pretty good luck for the most part, I did notice one thing late yesterday though and didn't get a chance to investigate. When I tuned to live TV I would get no sound (using SPDIF) and the video would play fine, pause for a second jump ahead, pause for second and jump ahead, and then play fine again for a few minutes. Playback was on the HD100, earlier on I was able to get normal playback of Audio and Video of live TV. Is this a common problem, I notice a few others reporting it, but no one mentioning a fix.

Common issue. For me, it frequently takes 5-10 seconds for the video/audio to "settle down" after a channel change. Sometimes I can't get things smooth so I have to hit stop on the remote and then reselect the channel from the guide. That usually works.
I'm not aware of a fix. |

Yeah, it takes mine about 5-10 seconds for the video to settle down, and then everything is ok after that. That is the only issue I have ever had with it. But I think that is only a playback issue with live TV as I don't see this with recorded content from the HD-VPR.

I have been trying out the new drivers 1.1 with the new sage 6.4.8, for maybe little over a week now, and the lock issue still occurs, where either I have to bounce the HD PVR (light on stays on as if it is recording, but not), or my whole system crashes...
The wife is telling me to dump the new HDPVR, but its past the return date, and I spent a good chunk of change on this thing. I hope for better drivers from Hauppauge

What revision hardware do you have? Maybe it's your unit? I'm on my third (C1, C2, now D2) and it's working pretty well. |
