SageTVService seems to use different properties file

When I enable the SageTVService I lose all my remote Control mappings. When I disable the services all of my mappings return. It's as if the service uses a different properties file or it doesn't import the mappings.

Any ideas on how the service differs from the standard startup?

It's not the service, it's the UI. The recording engine, whether run as a service or as a foreground app, always uses Sage.properties. When run as a foreground app, your UI settings will also be stored in Sage.properties. When you enable the service and then start the UI, the UI takes its settings from SageClient.properties (since it's now technically a client running in client/server mode).

If you don't want to reconfigure things manually, you could try copying selected properties from Sage.properties to SageClient.properties. (But as always, stop Sage and back up your properties files before doing these edits.)
