Annoying DTV messages
Anyone else notice that they are playing those annoying analog-stations-get-turned-off-in-January messages ON DIGITAL CHANNELS!!!

Yes I've noticed this. They're also causing no end of problems for my commercial detection. I can't wait for the transition to be over.

Yup, KOB (NBC) has been doing this for months in Albuquerque, every night @ 7PM for about 4 minutes. And they have to drop out of HD to do it and send an ugly looking SD signal with a big scroll at the bottom.

Has it had an impact on commercial detection for you?

All I get are digital channels... I never thought about the fact that it is kinda hypocritical. Heh. Of course, I think I only see them on major-network TV, where the same show is being sent out on the analog and digital channels, so they don't bother changing it just for that on commercial on the digital side.
I've now started seeing a new set of commercials warning you about "having the right antenna for the switch". Almost anyone with an antenna these days should know by now that there is no such thing as an "HD Antenna"... an antenna is an antenna... and if your signal is coming in clean enough to tolerate on analog, you will probably be fine in digital. And very few stations that are currently UHF in analog are moving to VHF for digital (and almost everyone has at least one VHF channel already, so your antenna presumably can pick up VHF), so that shouldn't affect many people.... Man, they're really trying to freak out the elderly, aren't they?

If it has, just barely because its always at the start. Now when they break HD for the weather map then it really messes things up.

I'm having the first 3 minutes or so marked as commercial quite often. Which commercial analyzer are you using?
