Hi Guys,

I am getting close to getting dvbe4sage running in SageTV, I can make manual recordings using the Sky UK channel numbers but when I try to record from SageTV I get the following messages:-

Sky UK are my provider and my SageTV channel are mapped to the same physical and logical channels as per SkyUK ie BBC2 is 102 on both physical and logical channels.

The problems seems to be with:-

Quote:
2010-04-10 09:37:18.818 A short SID specified, assuming default ONID=32
2010-04-10 09:37:18.819 Service SID=102 on ONID=32 has Name=""
2010-04-10 09:37:18.819 Autodiscovery requested, but cannot find the transponder for SID=102 on ONID=32 (""), no recording done!
It looks like dvbe4sage is using ONID=32, I believe it should be using ONID=2 and this seems to be causing the problem when looking for the channel, when I do a manual recording (unselecting use SID and entering the SkyUK channel number BBC2 = 102) this does not happen?

There used to be a different version for Sky UK is this still the case? I think I am really close to getting up and running but can anyone help me resolve this last problem?

For information I am using Windows 7 (64bit) and a FireDTV-S2, also attached is a copy of my dvbe4sage.ini and log files.

Many thanks,

David

Bacon2002,

In your INI file, set UseSIDForTuning to 0.

Best regards,

Michael.

Michael,

You are a genius, all sorted and running in service mode.

My next problem is I can't seem to view HD channels, I'm thinking it could be something to do with my set up being Windows 7 64 bit?

Any suggestions that I could try.

Thanks,

David

David,

I don't think it has to do anything with the OS. Provide me with the part of the log where you try watching the HD channels to see what the problem is. BTW, why do you exclude so many tuners from your setup?

Thanks,

Michael.

Michael,

As if by magic I do happen to have a Technotrend S3200 and a Hauppauge HVR-4000 lying around which I will try.

I take your point about the tuners although I have been using the FireDVB-S2 units for a while with this OS, they have been previously completing multiple simultaneous recordings without blue screening in SageTV.

That said on many occassions the FireDTVs have become unresponsive whilst running SageTV and subsequently they have required disconnecting and reconnecting before working again.

Maybe they just react differently in dvbe4sage.

Anyway after experiencing another Blue Screen I have disconnected the FireDTVs and I'll let you know how I get on, out of interest has anyone tried a Hauppauge HVR-4000?

Thanks for your help,

FYI I have the same issues with the FireDTV-S(2). They will work fine for weeks and then I've had two blue screens in the last week. Even a reboot doesn't fix them either, I have to power down completey to get them working again. I want to get a dual DVB-S2 PCI-E card but they seem thin on the ground. Also my TT S2-3200 works great.

Whitey,

I've been looking at the new BlackGold BGT3595, it's not out yet but the specification looks good, it is PCIE and a dual DVB-T and dual DVB-S2.

I have been using a BlackGold BGT3540 for a long time now and it has worked very well as a dual DVB-T card, for some reason it's dual DVB-S tuner does not seem to work with SageTV, I never got round to working out why?

Probably time for me to stick my FireDTV-S2's on eBay, it's a shame as I really liked them and they worked well in XP and Vista.

Cheers,

David

Mediaguard 3 support

Second try to get some basic information... Anybody willing to help?

1) Does DVB Enhancer support Mediaguard 3??
2) Does DVB Enhancer support DiSeqC compatible switches??

Would be great to get an answer on these question;

Greetings, Johan

Hi Johan!

DVBE4SAGE doesn't support DiSeQ as for now. The reason for this is that there is no common mechanism for handling DiSeQ within BDA API, so it must be coded for different brands of cards in a different way. It would also require some additional configuration options. I didn't have a need in DiSeQ so far, so I haven't bothered adding support for it yet. As the project is open source, everyone interested is encouraged to add this support themselves.
As for other kinds of encryption, it's only a matter of finding the supporting plugin. As for the configuration info, lookup for the page posted by Damian.

Best regards,

Michael.

Hi again.

I'm sorry I've taken so long to get back to this, but I've been really tied up with work.
Do you think this could be an issue with the FloppyDTV cards I'm using? I do have a technotrend I can try, but only one. So far using one floppyDTV tuner has been rock solid, it's only when I try to use 2 that things get messed up.
Is there anything else that could be causing the issue? It's a decent spec'd machine, which is only used for sageTV, and to network 2 printers. I'm using NDSCAM so I don't think that's the issue. It also happens when trying to watch free to view channels, so presumably NDSCAM isn't even used then.
When you say check the general stability of the machine, is there anything specific I should look for?

Any tips are much appreciated.

John

I had this problem too, but it turned out I hadn't stopped sage service when I altered sage.properties. Every time I restarted sage to see if it had worked, sage reset the file. Could this be your problem too?
Also, I once edited sage.properties.backup by mistake.

I have since tried a technotrend budget 3200 S2 card, and this suffers from the same problem.
I tried using that, and a single floppyDTV.
The first card it used was the FloppyDTV, then the second client used the Technotrend. A few seconds in, they both locked up and sage client became unresponsive.
So I disconnected the FloppyDTV and used the Technotrend alone. However even a single client caused this to lock up after a few minutes.

I'm getting the following warning messages in sage:

Quote:
Warning - Halt Detected in Recording

The device input "SageTV DVB-S2 Enhancer 2 on 127.0.0.1:6970 Digital TV Tuner" stopped producing data whilst recording "Starsky and Hutch***" on Sky Movies Comedy HD on physical channel 332. Sage TV will try to reset the device. This may be caused by a channel that is no longer available.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
I'll trawl the logs to see if I can find anything obvious and post up what I find.

Cheers

John

I still seem to be getting "file operation failed" issues. I have no idea where to even look for a cure for this. I have added the section of the logs where it occurs, and highlighted it in bold.

I've defragmented the drive in case it was that, to no avail.
I've tried every combination of DVB-S2 card I have.
I've updated to all the latest drivers.
I've even tried a single card and 2 channels on the same transport stream.

Is there anything else I can do but haven't?

Thanks in advance

DVBE4SAGE will not record

Thanks for your help getting my tuner installed into SageTV pasting your settings worked a treat, however I missed a step my dvbe4sage will not record, when I try a manual recording from the gui I get

2010-04-24 10:18:49.346 Service SID=5103 on ONID=32 has Name=""
2010-04-24 10:18:49.346 Autodiscovery requested, but cannot find the transponder for SID=5103 on ONID=32 (""), no recording done!
2010-04-24 10:19:05.705 Encoder stopped!

and when I try from SageTV I get the following line repeating itself for ever

2010-04-24 10:43:17.643 Received command: "GET_FILE_SIZE Z:\TV Recordings\DVBe4SAGE1on1270016969DigitalTVTuner

cpass,

You start recording too early. You must allow DVBE4SAGE to finish its initialization, that is, see "Graph Successfully Stopped" for all physical tuners you have in your setup, and only then attempt to record. When you setup DVBE4SAGE as a service, this happens automatically (that is, the service initialization is finished only when the graphs are stopped).

I waited and got this in the log

2010-04-24 13:10:39.549 #1: The initial run for autodiscovery finished
2010-04-24 13:10:39.564 #1: Signal locked, quality=100, strength=52
2010-04-24 13:10:39.580 #1: Graph successfully stopped
2010-04-24 13:11:21.830 A short SID specified, assuming default ONID=32
2010-04-24 13:11:21.830 Service SID=53109 on ONID=32 has Name=""
2010-04-24 13:11:21.830 Autodiscovery requested, but cannot find the transponder for SID=53109 on ONID=32 (""), no recording done!

I am only loading the GUI I have not touched the service at all yet, should I have installed the service for it to work?

Try setting these options within your dvbe4sage.ini file to get it working with SD first.
[Tuning]
UseSidForTuning=1
UseNewTuningMethod=0

[Advanced]
PreferSDOverHD=1

Once you have SD working, you can experiment with these option to get it tuning by channel number instead of SID and HD channels working.

Cheers

I changed the settings and get the same problem when using SID, but something different when I try the channel number, I have attached the log

I really appreciate you helping me with this
