I've built a new box with win7 x64 and DVBE4Sage works ok, until S3 standby. Recordings fail until the service is restarted, so I dug around for something to hook into the suspend/resume to shutdown then restart the DVBE4Sage and SageTV services.

http://win7suspendresume.codeplex.com/ seems to do the trick.

In my case I'm running server and client on the same box and in attempt to minimise damage by visiting users, run under a standard user account. This causes a minor irritation in so much that you'll have to manually "run as administrator" the tool, to make sure it has permission to start/stop services.

Issue with TeVii DVB-S2 card

Hi there,

I bought another DVB-S2 card (TeVii S470 pci-e) and tested dvbe4sage with it, however I can’t succeed in scanning the tp’s because I get an error just after initialization. The log file is showing a “Failed to QI IBDA_DeviceControl on tuner demod device” message. Is it telling you guys anything? Do you know the reason/fix? Is there anyone having succeeded in running such a card with Win7?

Thanks
Stefano

Problems with new build

Hi guys. I've built up a new box using XP SP3. I have Sage 6.6 installed, but no tuners configured. I have a USB tuner (cheap QQ Box from Ebay), but when I run DVBE4Sage, it crashes and I get the following errors:

I can't seem to find any information on this. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the drivers for the QQ Box, or some other component on my system. I'm hoping not to have to rebuild, but if I have to, then I will. Have any of you seen this before?

Thanks,

saneboy: I think you should start with Techno Trend USB cards, I run system with 8 of such tuners. When you will be learn operate with stable, known configuration, you can experience new things.

That's good advice. I've removed the QQ Box tuner, and am now working with a pair of Twinhan VP-1020a cards, which do not exhibit this problem. Therefore the problem I was having was likely due to the QQ box. I shouldn't be surprised, since support seems bad for these QQ box tuners.

I'm going to see if I can find a source for TT USB tuners and go that route, since I'd prefer to use my PCI slots for other devices.

Thanks,
S

I had 3 more PCI tuners Twinhan, Techno Trend, SkyStar.

after i had to replace dead power supply, need to remove everything from box.

i decided to move much simple just one USB cable, and everything outside.
in case the computer dead, i very easy bring new one, and just reconnect one cable...and everything fine.

Is there any plans to support DISEQC switches?

Has anyone tried this with the new Genpix driver?

As some of the folks here already know, I have just moved to Melbourne, Australia 2 months ago, with the whole family. So, needless to say, I'm quite preoccupied at the moment, with new country, new job and a lot of things to take care of...
I hope once we're more settled in I'll have some additional time to invest in this piece of software, but I can't tell at the moment when this will happen...

vividweb: i do not think it's good idea to use diseqc with SageTV, it's much simple to connect separate DVBS2 cards to all LNBs outputs and you can use all of the concurrent!!!!
i currently have 2 dishes to 2 providers, I split one LNB to 3 cards, and quad LNB connected to other 4 cards.

In case you have Diseqc on the roof, may be good idea to put small fan-less/diskless recording server there, that will record on shared storage, and sagetv can control it.

It seems like overkill to buy a card per LNB, when a $5 switch will combine them all together into a single tuner. I am currently using DVBdream as a network encoder and it is working fine, just always looking for ways to eliminate the extra prgrams I have running. I like the idea of a tuner per lnb, although channel management and lineups could be an extra headache.

I tried it las night on 72.7 but no go. Dvbe4sage detects the genpix and builds the graph but doesn't find a signal. Most likely because of the turbo-8psk. I'm going to try it on 110 this evening. I expect it will see the SD qpsk. At least we have a start.

Yes, DVBE4SAGE doesn't support TURBO-8PSK at the moment. Actually, adding this support shouldn't be much of an issue, as long as standard BDA API is used for this. I just need to know which const corresponds to this modulation and expected by the genpix driver...

in this case you will unable to watch/record programs from different LNB same time.
i thinking this is main feature of SageTV is concurrency. I have some 8 clients (extenders and PC clients) connected to single SageTv server - with this case i do not have a issue with tuner availability.

Are you using DVBdream as a network encoder for/with SageTV?

If so how?

Many thanks,

David

That is correct. I only have one Tuner, right now, but if I had a second Tuner hooked up the same way both Tuners would have access to all three LNBs. The way you have it setup is an interesting way to look at it.

Yep using this module in DVBdream http://dvbn.happysat.org/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=41365

has worked really well for a while, although having some stability issues with the latest dvbdream software.

i run also 2 instances of dvbe4sage(with their own configuration), one for each provider.

vividweb,

I must have missed this option in the past, looks interesting, I will have a read.

One of things I am hoping for is native (hardware) CAM support from within SageTV for Technotrend cards, I have a couple of TT S2-3650's, if SageTV supported the TT CAM's then that would be a brilliant solution.

Thanks,

David

I used to use a hardware CAM with a TT-3200 card in V6, worked perfectly.

Do you use a provider other than Sky in the UK? Wasn't aware there were any working hardware CAMs for Sky in the UK since they changed to the new white cards. That's why i ditched the hardware kit and went with DVBE4Sage.

Mark SS,

Yes you can use hardware cams with Videoguard and yes I do use the unmentionable UK provider that you mentioned.

Personally I use Fausto, a card reader and a Diablo Wifi there are other options that also work (Diablo 2, Dreambox etc), have a look here:-

http://www.satpimps.com/showthread.php?t=137277

I do think the DVBE4SAGE plugin is brilliant but I get times when it stops working at the moment so I am trying to find a hardware cam solution. With regards the S2-3200 I was sure that I also used to use my old S2-3200's cam in V6 but it looks like the CAM support no longer works? No idea why and I got rid of my Fire-DTV's as they didn't work reliably with Windows 7 64 bit so nothing works natively any more which is a real pain.

The TT S2-3650s looked like they would be a worthy replacement for the Fire-DTVs however currently SageTV does not support the CAM, I am told this is something they are looking to include in the future so fingers crossed.

Native cam support would be a huge improvement, there is a thread on the forum:-

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...ht=cam+support

on this very subject.

Thanks,

David

I been using DVB4Sage since it supported Sky UK with very few issues(18 months?). I can't believe that using a combination of a card reader and fausto with a wifi CAM could be any more reliable (and a lot more expensive!).

I think the major problem users have with DVBE4Sage is not using NDSCam but a card sharing client which are not officially supported by the developer.
