Adding DVB-C/T is not difficult at all, but I have other things in higher priority before that (e.g. manual trasnponder configuration), and I'm also quite busy these days.
Hope other people will join me in developing this app one day...

Hi all
I'm trying to get this working on 2 systems. My own uses a technotrend card, but the one I'm trying to configure for a friend uses Digital everywhere FloppyDTV's. 3 of them in fact, but I'm currently trying just one to simplify things. I can get the card to work with unencrypted channels directly through sage, but obviously he also wants to view paid for encrypted channels. I have a smartbee card reader, which I haven't yet plugged in. I've downloaded version 236 of dvbe4sage I've then started "dvbe4sagesvc.exe" which I presume is the core of the system then "dvbe4sage.exe" the UI The log on the UI is as follows Quote:
If it helps, the digital everywhere support tool generates this info. Quote:

Hi John,
There are quite a lot of things you need to do in order to make it work. Please, send me your email via PM and I'll send you all the instructions. Best regards, Michael.

I've actually found some basic instrictions on a cache'd version of damianflynn's website. It mentions a configuration file called "dvb4sage.ini"
I've downloaded 2 versions of the software (236 & 231), but neither of these have this file. The only files in my folder are:- dvbe4sage.exe dvbe4sagesvc.exe ecmcache.xsd encoder.dll There are a few .txt files too, but they all seem to be logs. Do I have to create this file, or do these versions not require it? I'm sure I'm just missing something really simple Cheers John

Hi Michael.
I have the instructions, but my post above still stands. The unzipped folder has no "ini" file. Is it something I need to create, or have I just downloaded the wrong version? I'll search this thread again for another version now, but I've done this before with no joy. EDIT: I found a link on BJKILLER's sig which seems to have all the required files. Do I just copy the files from the newer versions with the same name over to this folder to update to the latest version? I'm going to work through your instructions using the older version, but it would be nice to know how to try version 236. Ta John

John,
You do need to create the INI file. Please, use the document I sent you to determine the correct values. The most important ones are those responsible for the initial tuning and you have to put these according to your provider, Sky UK. The guide has very good description on how to determine these. Thanks, Michael.

OK, we're getting somewhere now.
I've managed to find all of the channels, here's a section of that log as an example Quote:
I then tried a 60 second recording using dvbe4sage. I ticked "use SID", and chose some free to view channels. BBC1 (6301) and CBBC (6421) I think I then got this log Quote:
Now it seems to be presuming that I want it to try ONID=32, whereas all of the sky uk channels seem to be on ONID=2. Presuming this is the problem, how do I alter this? I can't seem to find the setting anywhere.

OK, since we don't seem to be online at similar times, I've made a list of the things I'm unsure about. If you could have a read and point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.
1) The ONID=32 issue when testing the setup in dvbe4sage's "Operations" listed above 2) When configuring the virtual tuners in sage.properties, where my tuner is actually inside the sagetv server, do I just add the port number e.g. mmc/encoders/1111/encoder_host=6969 or do I have to add the IP address that's in your instructions e.g. mmc/encoders/1111/encoder_host=127.0.0.1\:6969 or do I have to find the IP address of my machine and add that? 3)I notice in your instructions you've used a different port for the second virtual tuner (6970). Is this required? And if so, what ports would I need for 3 tuners? 4)The tuner I'm attempting to use for dvbe4sage is currently added as a tuner in sage. Do I have to remove this first for everything to work? That's all I can think of at the moment. I'll carry on and add any questions I come across along the way. EDIT: Update I can now see the virtual tuner in sagetv. I simply copied and pasted a section from a howto on the web. I'm still not getting any actual video though. When trying to view sky news in sage (Which should be free to view) I'm getting the following message. Quote:

I'm now getting somewhere. Hopefully this little explination will help future readers.
I was trying to use SID to tune, and yet another read through this thread highlighted that I don't need to do that with SKY UK, so I tried using the channel number that's generated in the dvbe4sage logs when it initially boots up, and voilla, I made my first recording. I then got playing with sagetv, and after about an hour of fiddling, I found that if I use an existing satelite lineup generated by stephane's xmltv importer for sage, and simply remap the physical channel in sage>Setup>Setup video sources>chosen tuner>Channel setup, to the one found in the dvbe4sage logs, sage could then play that channel. Now all I need to do is get my smartcard reader working, and utilise service mode for dvbe4sage. My smartcard is a smartbee 3,579 Mhz by Duolabs. Is there something I need to alter to get this working? Perhaps a plugin, or an alteration in the ini file?

I see no logical reason for such a problem. Something must be wrong with your server setup. It has nothing to do with the fact it has the cardreader attached to it or with the type of the reader. Best regards, Michael.

Hi guys and gals. I'm really close to getting this 100% functional, so a huge thanks to Daniel, Gary and Michael for your help so far.
My only obstacle left is hopefully something trivial. I can make recordings of the sky HD channels using dvbe4sage's own 60 second record feature, but when I try to watch those in sage, I just get a no signal message. I've only tried a few encrypted channels to date, but so far 100% of the SD one's have worked, but their HD equivalents can only be viewed directly through the test recording feature. Is this something in the config file I've missed? Here's a sample of the code dvbe4sage generates Quote:

John,
You most probably didn't specify which of your tuners are S2 capable. For recording HD channels in Sage this is required, as DVBE4SAGE can't know this by itself. Under [Tuning], add the following flag: DVBS2Tuners=x,y,z Where x,y,z are the ordinal numbers of S2 capable tuners you have. Best regards, Michael.

My ini file looks like this....
I have only recently changed the DVBS2Tuners setting, but I have tried it since I added "1". I'll, shut the PC down and start from fresh just to make sure it's loaded correctly. Quote:
