pvr-350 issues

I guess beta 13 doesnt attempt to resolve the crash at end of recorded file issue with the pvr-350 with tv-out enabled--there's nothing in the release notes on this and I was able to crash my system right on cue by playing to the end of a recorded file.

Did I miss some sort of cure for this alongt the way or am I not alone?

I had so much trouble using the PVR 350 TV out with the 12 beta that I just disabled it. Not just crash at the end of a recorded file, but general stability problems. i.e. I can watch live tv if I don't touch anything, but when I use bring up menus, etc. it crashes. Or vice-versa I can mess around in the ui as long as I like but it crashes shortly after starting to watch live tv. Somehow using the UI and video at the same time is causing trouble for me.

I'll install the 13 beta tonight and go see if there is (yet another) 350 PVR driver update on SHSPVR.

BTW: I originally started by trying to use MythTV under Linux. I had the same 350 TV-out troubles there. In that case also there are other people using 350 TV out without trouble. I abandoned Myth because I heard reports of people successfully using the sage beta with 350 TV out. (I bought 1.4 so that I would be eligible for the 2.0 beta, I've never actually used or downloaded 1.4).

I'm starting to wonder if maybe the 350 and my motherboard just don't get along?

Anybody else getting Sage 2.0 with a 350 TV-out to work reliably with the ASUS Pundit (a cute small form factor PC)? I suppose I should try it out on another PC. I suppose I should have done more research before spending on the Pundit...

I have an Asus board with the integrated ATI chipset, not pundit, and am using the PVR 250,350, both 15's, and full output through the 350 with no stability issues. I can however crash the system if I use VNC, but that's easily avoidable.
I have not yet seen the crash at the end of a recording bug, so I am not sure what could cause that.

I have an Asus board too, but none of the UI and end-of-file problems. I strongly suspect these problems are related to the chipset in the mainboard, not the mainboard itself. After all, the southbridge chipset manages I/O on the PCI slots and hence, by definition, also controls any I/O operations with the 350 right?

From what little I've read, the PVR350 works well with Nividia's nForce chipsets (for AMD). Not sure about Intel-based chipsets though.

Let's do a poll... all those who DON'T have the 350 UI and end-of-file problems, please state your chipset. Those having problems can then cross reference with this list of chipsets.

Motherboard: ASUS A7N266VM-AA
Chipset: nForce 220-D
Processor: AMD Athlon 1GHz
WinXP Pro SP1

I can enable it and it does not lock up in the ATI tv out, but still locks up the video on the 350 out, after about 10 seconds.

WinXP Pro sp1a
P4 1.5 ghz - Asus P4B - i845 chipset
Radeon 9000 pro AGP w/ svideo out

I'd agree that an mobo incompatible with the 350 is likely due to chipset, not mobo manufacturer.

My Pundit uses an ASUS P4S8L motherboard with SiS chipset and a 2.4 celeron
SIS651 northbridge
SIS962 southbridge
(again 350 tv-out is not stable here)

I'll try this weekend on my 2.8 P4 with ASUS P4PE motherboard
Intel 82845PE northbridge
Intel 82801DA southbridge

If that works my wife will get the Pundit, and my in-laws will get her PIII 866, and I''ll go shopping for a new mobo/case for my set top box

my asus 875P goes in the category

which, if I know my mobos (a big if) is starting to look like the intel boards are having problems, the AMD ones are ok.

what does it all mean?

oh, and is ATI 9100 a mobo or a video card?

mikejaner, do you use an intel CPU or an AMD CPU and do you know the chipset of your motherboard?

END-OF-FILE BUG
Abit AH6 PII 400MHz
Intel 440LX chipset
Win XP
Rage Fury
SageTV 2.0.13
PVR-350
PVR-250
Hauppauge 1.8.22037 drivers
Network Encoded PVR-250 (sagerecorder 1.5 Beta)

Old, but she was stable under 1.4 with PVR-350....I get the end of file bug about every 15 hours with 2.0.13.

What hauppauge driver versions are the people using without problems? Also, please note if you are using a network encoder (both if you are or are not experiencing the bug)

This is really the only truely aggrivating bug for me right now.

Thanks,
Deadbolt

Not too constructive, but maybe we'll see some patterns -- No problems with my PVR350 TV out, running hardware accel off, H/W rendering only. Soyo Dragon Ultra Platinum KT333, Athlon 2200+, gig of ram. Running .13 now, been using this config since .11 without a single stability problem (other than occasional UI freezes that went away from .11 > .12 and the conversion from Hauppauge remote to ATI Remote Wonder + Girder w/ SendMessage)

Edit: Meant to say 3d accelleration off, not hardware. Oops.

P4R800-VM
http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/sock...m/overview.htm
Intel Celeron 2.4 in my system.
It's an all ATI solution with a Radeon 9200 built into the chipset. Pretty sweet $80 MB if you ask me.

Oh, and I am using the latest drivers from hauppauge XXXXX37

What I noticed the other day is that the video stops playing on the 350 at the same time the OSD is being taken away-- I was trying to test if the video would keep playing if I kept the OSD on the screen by constantly changing the volume, but I haven't had time to play with it.

But yeah, the OSD is killing my 350 as well. If I turn it off, all is fine, turn it on, video freezes on playback. Annoying!
