Viewing ripped DVD's on stand-alone?
I have my first HD200 hooked up to a TV. I like it. Although I have all the parts for my first SageTV server, I'm still awaiting the chassis (expected to be delivered Monday), so I'm playing around in stand-alone mode.
I've been reading of folks viewing ripped DVD's, so I thought I'd try it. I ripped two DVD's to HD on a shared drive on my network. Each DVD is in it's own folder and contains two subfolders (AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS). I then told the HD200 to import the network folders ... which it did just fine. However, when I go to try and view either DVD, nothing shows under the DVD or VIDEO menus. I have to go into the File System menu & drill down into the VIDEO_TS folder and manually select a VOB file. The HD200 will then play that VOB, but there are a bunch of them in the folders and I have to try each one to find the movie and none of the menus work. So ... do I need to create an ISO from these AUDIO_TS/VIDEO_TS folders in order to have these appear as DVDs? Or do I need to do something else with them? Thanks, pat---- |

They should just show up as a DVD "object" in the imported videos view. You might have to change the view to DVD though.

Alas, it doesn't.
![]() DVD view shows "0 items". If I drill down in File System view, I see the VOBs and can pick and play one of them. <shurg> pat---- |

You've got the IFO files in addition to the VOBs right?

VOB's, IFO's and BUP's.

The DVD file layout is like what is shown in Appendix I of the full SageTV PDF manual? Standalone mode can recognize DVDs because that's how my system is set up & the DVDs are listed & play fine.
The import dir is set up to import videos? The scan-in-progress indicator in the top right corner has turned off (scan is done)? - Andy

DVD Cover Art
Will DVD Cover Art show in stand-alone mode (assuming you have a .jpg file in the VIDEO_TS directory)? Or do you need the server software running to do this?

Yes it will. I'm pretty sure the metadata properties will work as well (but I haven't tried that).

Thanks. I use MyMovies to put the folder.jpg file into the folder. That worked great when the SageTV Server was running (I've stopped the service now and am currently rescanning to see if the coverart comes up)
MyMovies places XML files into each directory. I've seen lots of postings on how people wish the metadata was viewable using MyMovies. Some people mentioned DVD Profiler. Is that what I would use in lieu of MyMovies? |

I'd look at Stuckless' batch importer, I think it will generate the .properties files sage uses for metadata.
