High CPU Usage
Disregard the hardware spec in my signature. I am using a second system with an Intel E7300 2.66 dual core CPU and an Nvidia 7950 Video Card to try and get Vista (Business) , SageTV, HD-PVr and HDHome run woring together. I have installed SageTv beta 6.5.5., Cyberlink DVD 8, and Archsoft Software. The HD-PVr installed ok as well as the HD-Homerun. I have set Video Renderer to EVR, Mpeg2 Video Decoder filter as Cyberlink, Mpeg4 playback as Directshow, Dscaler as Disabl;ed, Audio renderer as default and Mped2 Audio decoder filter as Default.( I have AC3 Filter installed) Also under Advance setup 3D Acceleration is enabled.
Although playback in Live TV is acceptable, Task Manager shows the CPU usage at round 45 percent on average . although I consider this high it does not seem to effect playback qulaity. Even when Comship is running during LiveTv playback quality is good. My Question is how do I check to confirm Hardware acceleration is working. I would suspect with such High CPU usage it's not. I did check the DirectX 10 information and its shows Direct3D acceleration as ENABLED. So again is Hardware acceleration working and the 45 Percent CPu usage is the best that can be expected or can it be improved. Any help would be appreciated.

Well if that's for MPEG-2 it's probably not. If that's H.264, then it might be, the 7 series only had very limited H.264 accelleration.

ok thanks. As I recall the CPU utilization did not show much difference between the HDomerun live TV and the Hd-PVR live tv. I have a 8600GT I can pull out of another system and see what results I get. Will let you know.

I installed the 8600GTS and the CPU usage dropped signifiently from 45 to 25 percent. However it seems the same usage for both the HDhomerun and the HD-PVR. Thanks again for the help

Well a really good card should result in the same CPU for both since it's doing all the work for both.
