Arrow STV Import: Display output resolution on Timebar

This import shows the current output display resolution to the timebar. It is useful when using the HD extender or theater to see what it is outputting to the TV without going through the setup menus.

It has been tested on SageMC 6.3.8a and SageTV 6.5.4 beta.

A properties value is created that controls the display of the output resolution.
razrsharpe/resolution_on_timebar=true
The default value is true. Set it to false to not display the output resolution.

I'm not using SageMC, just the default Sage Client interface. I had to change the .XML to .STVI to import it. This plugin does not work. Is it supposed to without SageMC?

Valnar: Yes. It requires SageMC.

razrsharpe: I just loaded the import onto one of my client machines and have found that it always displays the resolution of the display rather than the resolution of the recorded material.

I guess this is by design and intended for use with an extender which I'm guessing will vary output resolution depending upon the source material.

Any chance of an option to display the resolution of the source material rather than the current display resolution?

Mick.

Valnar: I use SageMC and assume since SageMC is a complete replacement for the default STV that it does not work in the default STV because the default STV and SageMC refer to the timebar differently. When I have a second I will look into creating one for the default STV too, it shouldn't be too difficult.

mickp:Yes the extender varies the output resolution with source material if you enable that option. I also noticed that it just displays the display resolution when I had it loaded onto a client (not really useful). You are correct that it is designed to be used with the extender. However, I have also wanted to display the file format/resolution too so I will look into adding this functionality.

I updated the stvi to include the file format description on the timebar. You can configure it via .properties file options to display either just the video resolution and fps or the full media file description (container, AR, resolution, Audio tracks and format) or not at all. See the download description for the properties file options.

I would very much appreciate that. Thank you.

This might also help those of us trying to get 24p to work on the extenders.

I would also appreciate this import for the standard stvi..

It's very useful because when changing resolutions, most TVs don't show the resolution the signal locks at.

-You can save anywhere but the simplest thing to do would be to unzip the file to your STV directory (normally: C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3)

-Then in SageMC go to My menu -> Settings -> Import STVi (I am at work right now so i can't check it, but I think that is right). It is just like importing any other STVi (customization). In the explorer box that pops up navigate to the STVi(.xml) and click OK.

Is there any way to increase the size of the text font? I find it's too small to read at a normal viewing distance.

Yup. You need to modify the following property item (in sage.properties, or sageclient.properties, or extenderMACaddress.properties ... depending on your setup).

razrsharpe/timebar/font_size_factor=0.5
scaling factor for the font size from the base ui font size, default 0.5
Setting it to a value of 1.0 will make it the same size as the timebar text.
Remember to shutdown the client (or if using an extender stop the sage service) before modifying the property item.

Thanks. I am using Windows XP Pro and found sage.properties in c:\programs\sagetv\sagetv and modified it with notepad and saved it as sage.properties and that did the trick!

The only problem is it appeared to show the proper resolution for a few shows (1920x1080@60) but then it switched to a lower resolution for (720xsomething I think) for another channel, which was correct, but then it got stuck on that resolution and showed it for every channel including the HD ones.

I am using it on an HD200.

mmm... that's weird. I haven't seen that. Couple questions. Which value stays constant? The top one (above the timebar) or the bottom on (below the timebar)? The bottom value is the current output resolution and should be whatever the HD200 is outputting. The top value is the current media file format and should change by what you are viewing. The top number should change too if you have the native resolution switching enabled in the HD200 setup
