6.5.5 - Compression Failed
My main reason for installing the beta update, was to get the iPhone compression working. Previous to the update, the compression would take place, complete, but the file could not be recognized by iTunes.
Now, when I try and compress a file, any file, it immediately says "Compression Failed," and asks me if I want to cancel the compression. It is not even trying to compress the file at all, from what I can tell. Is anyone else having this problem? I am using the iPhone Widescreen, and I have tried the iPhone Standard, both do the same thing.

From what I can tell, it's broken again. When I first tried it after receiving my iPhone it wouldn't work, some issue with AC3 and the transcoder. They fixed it a few releases ago but it appears to be not working again. I haven't had a chance to do my due diligence, however, and then submit a bug report.

Hmm, I checked the log files, and didn't find anything that pointed to why it failed. Looks like it was scheduled, and then that is about it, looks like it gets killed at some point, but no reason why...

support knows it is broken, and they say it is already fixed for the next build.

Hmm. Works for me, what problem are you having? I compressed a 2+GB show to iPhone widescreen, and it ended up being less than 200KB. I even played it on the iPhone just fine.
