Severe problems rendering audio
When I try to play back any videos or live TV I get an error from Sage saying that the audio cannot be rendered. When I try to play music it is even worse - the Sage app crashes immediately. Sound works fine for other apps and I have tried several of the audio renderers available in Sage.
I am moving my Sage server from Vista to WHS. This PC did NOT have any audio device installed when Sage was installed (WHS did not automatically install audio drivers for my mobo, an Asus P5Q, on OS install and I hadn't got around to installing them before I installed Sage) - could that be the problem? If so do I have to uninstall and then reinstall Sage? I would like to avoid that if possibleI am running the latest beta of Sage 6.5.5 and WHS with PP1.

If you're moving the Sage to WHS the vista issues aren't important. What I did when I moved Sage from Vista to WHS was; shut down Sage and the service, copy the entire SageTV dir from program files to the WHS box and then run the SageTV installer (this was before the WHS add-in) and it all worked fine. That's what I would do, except use the WHS add-in now. When it's all running on WHS, uninstall the one on Vista...

I am in the process of copying all files right now but I have already installed SageTV on the WHS. But that isn't directly related to the issue which is this - I can't playback anything on my WHS box without getting an audio rendering error or worse - like a crash.
I don't plan on really watching content on my Sage server but it is nice to be able to try things out -i.e. make sure that all of your tuners are working, etc. without having to run to a Placeshifter client.

Oh, I thought your audio problems were with Vista. I don't know what to say, my builtin Realtek HD Audio for my Abit Ab9-Pro mobo works fine, so all I can think of is drivers.

I had this problem before I installed the drivers for my audio card - I am wondering if Sage doesn't like it if you don't have any audio devices or drivers installed when you do the initial install. I will try upgrading to 6.5.6 later today and if that doesn't work I might uninstall and then reinstall.

I tried updating to 6.5.6 but that didn't change anything. So I uninstalled Sage from WHS. But when you uninstall using the console it leaves the SageTV folder in Program Files. So I deleted that as well and reinstalled. I don't think my uninstall was totally successful because Sage somehow know that I have a license - perhaps this is stored in the registry somewhere?
But I still have the same problem - I cannot render audio in Sage which means that I can't play any media content. Media does play in WMP - at least WMV files do - I don't think I have codecs installed to play other files like MPEG-2 or AVI. Anyone have any other ideas?
