HD PVR version 1.0.5.4 Beta
http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=11880.0
Anyone try this yet? Not sure why it isn't on the Hauppauge site. That and no release notes means I may not bother sans more info. |

So far so good...
Figured I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a try tonight.
I've recently RMA'd a Rev C2 and received a new E1. Running 1.0.5.3 on it. Dolby 5.1 records, but the audio and video would go in and out of sync over the span of a recording (starts in, goes to about 2 seconds out, back in sync, rinse and repeat). Tried the new load tonight and so far so good. Dolby 5.1 recoding works and so far, audio and video stay in sync. No loud pop when the audio starts. The ONLY gotcha so far is that after installing the new driver on my server, the interface on the HD-100 seems to have slowed down and is not as responsive, but still works. I will continue to run this beta and report back if things are not good. |

Audio Sync failed
No go.
Audio went out of sync recording the next show using the Dolby 5.1. Switched my STB back to PCM audio and recordings are fine again. Anyhow the driver didn't cure my audio sync issue. |

Sorry they didn't work out for you. I haven't had audio sync issues in a while; amazing, an HD-PVR bug I'm not experiencing
Sage tech support mentioned a new HD-PVR driver sometime soon. Hopefully there will be an official new one which will fix some problems. |

I haven't had audio sync problems since I tried out BTV. I'm running the 1.05.1 driver, since hauppauge hasn't worked out the problems with 5.1 audio on FIOS I decided it wasn't worth the trouble to go to the 1.05.3 driver.
Hauppauge is supposed to be close on a new driver.

TallMom, I think I saw one of your other posts where you are just using 2 channel audio? I don't have any recording issues if I use 2 channel (via optical or RCA), only when I switch to 5.1. Honestly, it doesn't make a huge difference for the audio I find. I mostly watch hockey and network TV and they don't do funky things with 5.1 audio anyhow, but it would be nice to get the 5.1 audio working to record SciFi and Thriller movies that make better use of the technology.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but does ANYBODY have 5.1 audio working without issue with the hd-pvr reliably?

Thanks for that. Did you do anything special configuration wise?

Nothing special. Before the 1.0.5.3 driver I had the 1.0.5.1 (I believe) and that one worked w DD 5.1 for me as well. I do get a click pop noise somewhere in the first couple of seconds of the recording, so I keep trying the new drivers. The click pop is still there. I'll wait until Hauppauge puts this new one up on their web page before I try it.

From my unscientific study of this issue, it appears that the 5.1 issue seems to be more prevalent with users of DishNet/ExpressVu or FIOS hardware. I'm not sure if I've seen any DishNet STB owners exclaim that they have a working 5.1 solution.

I had 5.1 working but I had to set the channel changing delay to 8 seconds. Now I'm set to PCM only on the dish box and it works with the delay at 4 seconds.

I have 5.1 working with my expressvu receivers. I have to have the delay set, I've been experimenting with different values to find the optimal one, and don't remember what I have it set to right now, I believe it is 3000 or 4000. The delay is only slightly annoying when watching live TV and channel surfing, but I rarely do that anymore.
It would be nice if there was some type of wait message displayed letting you know that it is tuning the channel, the wife gets a little impatient with it.

When you say Dishnet... you just mean the Dish network right? Sorry, dumb q I'm sure as it seems obvious, just want to make sure. I've been considering switching to Dish, and if nobody can get the 5.1 audio to work on it, that's probably a bad plan.

i tried this driver out in combination with doing a couple other things to my system:
-removed AC3 Filter -disabled onboard Realtek Sound card -updated to the latest directx 9.0c -updated to latest ATI drivers 8.12 -installed Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Series PCIe Sound Card -enabled Dolby Live Encoding for X-Fi Sound Card now in conjunction with the new beta driver for the HDPVR my unit actually works! every time i tune a channel i get to watch something! Its only been working for a day or two so I don't want to get my hopes too high, but it was like a mini miracle. I came into the basement and the bling light was on the HDPVR indicating it was recording, the VFD was displaying information so I knew the HTPC wasn't locked up, and sure enough later in the evening I was able to watch my HD recording of Transformers without an issue! -Striker- |

I'm not entirely sure what you did here. Did you use the Dolby Input of your sound card instead of the sound from the HD-PVR? Or are you saying you're mixing a Dolby from the 2 channel RCA inputs? :confruzzled:

If any channels are 2.0 (ie SD channels and some of the HD channels that suck) then the sound card will upmix the 2.0 to 5.1DD so now all signals sent to my amplifier are 5.1DD wether its true 5.1DD or the upmixed stuff. The downside is that if I watch a DVD or BluRay it will not let me do spidif passthrough because of the DD Live Encoding so I am forced to have my movies decoded to 6 channel analog by the software player then re-encoded to DD5.1 by the sound card before it gets to the amplifier -Striker- |

Is everything synced? I have horrible audio sync issues using my 211 and hdpvr with either rca or optical connections.
