Getting client to work with h.264 1080i on a Kohjinsha SX3
I love/hate my little SX3 to pieces. Just when I think it was a colossal waste of money, along comes what windows 7 beta, which has solved all of the issues that plagued it at the OS level before I even got to the sage tweaking part (want it as a wireless client). So now that it is stable, I'm back to mucking around with codecs and such.
SX3 Specs: Intel Atom silverthorne 1.33ghz, 2gb ddr2 pc5300, win7, intel gma500 video
I put the win7 beta on it and replaced the wifi card with an intel 4965agn, which will be talking to a dir655 extreme N router that hopefully will be on my porch tonight. Windows update found an update for the GMA500, version 1095. I put a 2.7gb episode of Planet Earth from a dish r5000 on the sx3's hard drive, and it plays perfectly in WMP. While I won't say the processor is pegged while it's only playing the video, it doesn't take much multitasking to make the video skip. Arcsoft Total Media and Cyberlink don't work at all, cyberlink results in a bsod, I bet those are win7 issues. My ultimate goal is to get this working as a sagetv client, which is currently the worst of the lot, resulting in a black screen of death and forcing a manual (hold down the power button) reboot. I bet that is a java issue, but haven't yet DL'ed a java update, just using whatever installed with the 6.5.6 beta.
How do I get sage client to use whatever WMP uses to play these files perfectly? DXdiag reports that it is indeed using directx 11, and supposedly win7 has built in HW acceleration, but I cannot see a way to verify that.
"It will never work" is a perfectly acceptable answer, but please tell me why. Tonight I will try different combinations of EVR/VMR/ on both HD and SD files and report back. Thanks!
