STX-HD100 wake on lan?

Does anyone know if the HD100 supports wake on lan and if so how do you enable it?

There is nothing to set on HD100. Best resiults for me was to connect my two HD100's on a dedicated NIC and subnet in my server. I then set NIC in BIOS & Windows for Wake on Lan. When I hit the power on on either HD100 the server wakes up .... works great!

NOTE: If the HD100 shares the subnet with other devices then they could falsley wake your server or keep it from entering S3-sleep, I recently made that mistake.

I am not sure about the HD100... But the HD200 does NOT support Wake-On-LAN per the Sage technical people... IMO, this is just RIDICULOUS... Especially in this new "Green" energy saving world we are all suppose to be stiving for...

If it's energy you're worried about the HD100/HD200 only draws 5-8 watts. There're bigger energy hogs to fry.

What about the 80 Watts the SERVER DRAWS while sitting there AWAKE waiting for the HD200... The only reason I have my server awake all the time is BECAUSE of the HD200... EVERY OTHER piece of equipment on my network has NO ISSUE with waking the server... Just the HD200... Absolutely RIDICULOUS...

That's nice if you need that. My server is on 24/7 - I wanted my HD100's to turn on... But thank's - I too have a dedicated hardwireed subnet and router for my sage setup, it helps with the HD video.

absolutly absurd! - WOL is needed inthe world of home theatre! how else does our fancy touch screen turn things on(IR - I know, but you get the meaning)?

Hmmm .... Now my interest is peaked. I'm both naive and curious, but what is the benifit of the HD100 itself being woke up? Obviously it isn't for power savings like I'm doing by sleeping server.

For me it's shear lazyness- also the media closet is onthe back side of the room and I curently use an IR extender to turn on/off - other components as well. But I have customized the web remote page to control the HD100 from my touch screen. I still need to setup or use the remote to turn it on/off. I have IR setup to control the other components but integrateing the on/off control of the HD100 into the web page is not that easy. It would be nice to have it all in one web page as the web control works great thanks to neilm's hard work. There is a power option on the web remote but it does not work, it brings up the screen saver instead.

I would just leave the HD100 on but I only have two sources and four boxes. This would prohibit recording and watch Tv at the same time.

I must not be green enough, but what I want to do is keep the hd100 from ever going to sleep in the first place. I am trying to get the WAF as high as possible and my wife isn't a fan of waiting for the tv to "boot" every morning. Now you and I both know it only takes about 12 seconds, but apparently that is 12 too many!

regarding why one might turn off an Extender...

I have mine setup to use a slideshow of pictures for the screen saver. If left-on for long periods of time it will keep the hard drives(raid5) on my server spinning constantly. It seemed to me the drives would last longer if the Extenders were turned off when not in use.

When I told my wife we save about $150/year in failed drives and less of my time in the server closet ... then she became ok with the boot-up delay.

fyi ... I just made-up the $150/year ... not sure if it is acurate, but it was enough to end the discussion.
