What needs to be done to play DVD's?
Ok, got the live TV stuff working pretty well. It plays my avi files just fine too.
But How do I play DVD's through Sage? I can't find any references to this so any direction would be appreciated. Norm |

No, found lots referring to the windows client but not the placeshifter, which is all we have in Linux.
Even if I can add a menu item or similar to just call mplayer to play my dvd's then that would work just as well. Norm |

Ok so more info. DVD play doesn't work Natively in the Placeshifter but since I use the server and placeshifter on the same primary system, I was able to use the Dynamic Menus STVi to add a menu option pointing to an external script file which launches the DVD and away I go.
The external command has the following in it: # play a dvd su - norm -c "export DISPLAY=:0;/usr/bin/xine -f dvd://" norm is the user that runs Placeshifter. The options I selected when I added the menu option was external command and make sagetv sleep and awaken when exit. Norm |

Windows Placeshifter and DVD Rips?
I run placeshifter on my son's pc on our home network. I tried running client but his PC just can't handle the HD content.. Placeshifter transcodes and he can play most of the content.. but he can't play the ripped DVD's?? Is there any way to allow a networked Placeshifter client to play those via the SageTV Gui?
I'd prefer to use the SageClient, but the specs just don't cut it.. unless I'm doing something wrong.. Client Specs: Windows XP AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.5 GB RAM

Placeshifter can't play DVDs. That's one of the differences between PS vs. Client. For playing HD on a SageTV PC client get yourself a good video card that does hardware acceleration for the HD recordings.
