HD-PVR Playback error...tried many solutions listed in forums. Please help.
I am still getting the playback error in SageTV when I try to watch
SageTV Verion: 6.5.12.206 HD-PVR Driver: 1.0.5.301 I've added the following lines to sage.properties (even though I guess it isn't required in this version of sage.) videoframe/aac_audio_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD videoframe/ac3_audio_decoder_filter=AC3Filter videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder I have the version of TME that came with my HDPVR installed and I am able to use it to view TV via the HD-PVR. I'm going to keep looking for a solution but I thought someone might know of something I haven't run across yet. I have 2 other tuners, both Hauppauge 1) WinTV-PVR-150 and 2) USB MediaMVP. Both of these tuners have been working fine.

It must be a problem with a decoder. I recorded a show with TME and then tried to play it back in Sage and it gave me the same error. Is there any way to see what decoder sage is trying to use?

I installed a different version of TME (retail) and I no longer get the playback error. However the video is very jerky and stuttering a lot. So onto searching for a fix for that. At least it's working now.

What video card are you using? With that processor, You're going to need a video card with hardware accelleration/decode for HDPVR recordings.

I have an NVideo GeForce 8600 GTS.
I know the cpu is a bit slow, but the motherboard I have can accomadate one of the newer Phenom processorrs. Hoping to upgrade someday. I changed from VMR9 to Overlay and playback is smooth. Not my first choice...but it works and that is good enough for me at the moment as I'm a bit under the weather. Any suggestions though would be appreciated. I was even considering moving to Vista if it improved performance. I already have the upgrade just haven't installed it.

Overlay worked the best for me under XP with both the nVidia 7950GT and the nVidia 9600GT. EVR rendering will take some of the load off your CPU if you do make the move to Vista.

I don't know if it still matters, but see what Sage is set up to use for playback in the Customization settings> SageTV Player or DirectShow. There's also a property setting of always_use_dshow_player that you could experiment with.

It's set to directshow already. I might try the setting though, maybe for some reason it isn't actually using it. I don't know.

I had a similar experience and here's how I resolved it:
Background = AMD X2 4400+, Nividia 8600GT, PVR-150, HDHomeRun, HD-PVR on Vista x86_64 1 - Remove any installed codecs - yep, all of 'em. This is very important to ensure that ArcSoft gets the highest merits. 2 - Reinstall TME from the Hauppage CD. 3 - Register all of the TME .ax files -- the installer does *NOT* do this for you. Rename the attached file to not have a .txt extension and run it. 4 - Install AC3Filter, the full current version from the web. http://ac3filter.net/project/1/releases 5 - Install the Haali splitter. http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/ 6 - Shut down Sage and edit your properties file to play back H.264. h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder 7 - Start Sage and configure it properly to use ArcSoft to playback mpeg-2 formats. Under video/audio, choose EVR (using Vista) and set everything else to "default". If XP, I guess you'd have to try VMR9 FSE and report back. 8 - Configure Sage to use ArcSoft to play back DVDs. Under DVD Playback, choose EVR, Video Decoder = ArcSoft, Audio Decoder = AC3Filter. 9 - Sit back and eat With this configuration, I can simultaneously record 3 streams (2 in HD), run 2 comskip processes, output to a MediaMVP, and "backup" a DVD, while also watching live 720p or 1080i live from either the HDHomeRun or the HD-PVR. With this configuration I can also watch a 1080p recording *flawless* HTH... EDIT: I don't have either of these in my .properties: Quote:

I'll probably give this a shot later on! I think I am all but convinced I may have better luck with the HD stuff in Vista...and since I already have it, why not? We're watching Planet Earth on Discovery HD so kinda sucked into that show right now!
