Getting the status after running an external command

I am using the built in functionality of the SageMC UI to run 2 external commands. One is a .cmd dos file to start the PlayOn service, the other file stops it. These both work great.

I am wondering if it is possible to display the status of PlayOn (started or stopped) as text on the same menu. I have a third cmd file that can report the status, but I don't know if I can display its output within SageMC.

Does SageMC have this functionality built in, or would it require some Studio work? If it does require Studio, can someone point me in the right direction? Maybe this type of thing has been done in other imports that I could use as examples?
