New HD200 setup with a random problem and slow channel change
I setup a new whs server with a hd200. I am getting an error randomly:
No encoder present cannot tune to the selected channel. Error (-10). Now if I select it again, it will tune to that channel. I am afraid this error will occur when it is trying to record something. The tv tuner is a HD-PVR. One other issue (I am not sure this has anything to do with this problem) is when changing channels the HD200 takes say 5-10 seconds to change the channel it self then the server changes the channel. Basically it seems very slow changing channels. I have never owned a HD200 so I don't know if the slowness is what is to be expected from this setup. My home network is a 10/100 network going through cat5e Thanks for any help |

Could you give us a bit of help with what you have for a setup? Tuners? Processor? Software versions, etc?

I have the latest sagetv 6.5
just installed the latest sagemc 6.3.8 (problems occurred before this) whs server w 4 gig ram and 9750 phenom (2.4 quad core) Hauppage HD-PVR single client hd200 (for now) These issues have been since I did a basic install. 1. Channel changes slowly(takes 5-10 seconds for the hd200 to respond, this could be normal I have never owned one) 2.error (-10) No encoders present to tune to the selected channel. I select the channel again and it tunes fine to it. I do not use the server as a client (only an hd200). TV seems to play fine (only pauses once in a while). Plays dvd files fine (very fast actually). I have some avi files and it seems to take for ever to load those. Thanks for the help (sorry for the lack of info) Bill |

Bill,
There could be any number of things causing your issues. First of all, only pauses once in a while is nto acceptable. It shouldn;t at all. And by that do you mean hiccups, or stutters? Did you update the HD200 firmware to the latest beta? And also, are you running sageTV 6.5.9 or 6.5.14 beta? Something isn't right and the HD200 should be a lot more responsive than that. Another thing, is this connected to your router? which router is it? (make and model) and what else do you have connected? Are you using the Hauppauge IR Blaster to change channels?

As soon as I setup the hd200, I told it to update to the latest firmware. This was done through the settings on the hd200 (telling it to update over the internet). If there is a different way to update to a different firmware, then I will need to look that up.
More of a slight hiccup every once in a while. I assume I am running 6.5.9 but not sure, I will have to check when I get home tonight. The router is an old dlink 614 if my memory serves me well. It is a 10/100 network. Thought about upgrading my network but did not know if it was worth it because the NIC on the hd200 is only a 10/100 nic. Yes I am using the Hauppage IR blaster to change channels. I don't think the hauppage is that bad but the HD200 is slow. I actually tell it to change channels and wonder if it got the command. A person certainly cannot channel surf with this box. |

That's not the latest beta firmware. When you go to update the firmware you have to enter 2382 on your remote and you'll get firmware "20090505 0". Also, the latest beta of SageTV is 6.5.14.

Ok I upgraded both to the latest firmware/version. Plus per tech support I made sure the HD-PVR was the latest version.
This seemed to fix the speed of changing channel. I have not surfed a lot so I am waiting to see if it fixed the other issue. I am hoping so. In the next couple of days I will find time. Thanks for the help. Now on to comskip and fanart. Bill |
