Looking for linux/OTA ATSC info/versions headaches
This is the thread that has the issues in it - it was originally about windows 7 but I don't think it has anything to do with that specifically.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...537#post361537 This has been happening to me for a long time - I've gone through ubuntu/centos/debian both 32 and 64 bits. I've done .deb installs, and regular installs. I thought at the start it was 64 bit, however I don't think so now. I've had it running months ago flawlessly on debian 32, so I don't think it's the hardware. Right now I'm headless, ubuntu 32 server that only has basic sage install on it. 4x OTA Hdhomerun inputs - 1 new hdhomerun, 1 older 1. Restarting sage fixes it, but I have to do it multiple times a day, or I get no signal and soundless recording - sometimes I can't even kill it even will all the linux tools available, I have to reboot the server. This has happened to me for quite a bit of versions of sage. Sat 5/30 19:04:01.288 java.lang.NullPointerException Sat 5/30 19:04:01.288 java.lang.NullPointerException Sat 5/30 19:04:01.288 at sage.b3.else(Unknown Source) Sat 5/30 19:04:01.288 at sage.b3.free(Unknown Source) Sat 5/30 19:04:01.288 at sage.VideoFrame.a(Unknown Source) Sat 5/30 19:04:01.289 at sage.VideoFrame.a(Unknown Source) Sat 5/30 19:04:01.289 at sage.VideoFrame.run(Unknown Source) Sat 5/30 19:04:01.289 at sage.cs$a.run(Unknown Source) Some other people are having these issues so I believe it is a bug and trying to narrow it down, right now it is game breaking. So if you have success with OTA ATSC, Hdhomerun and sage could you... 1. what firmware are you using on hdhomerun 2. what version of sage are you running 3. What distro/bit of linux are you running 4. did you scan/set the hdhomerun via windows gui/config before scanning into sage? |

In another thread it was suggested to try Java 1.5. Are you on that or 1.6?

The new .16 version seems to fix the "no signal" bug for me so far
However sometimes I get corruption on some of the tunners with multiple recordings. I've got a ticket in with sage but trying to fix as much as I can by myself. I've tried 1.5 and 1.6 java, doesn't seem to make a difference I'm wondering if anyone with 2x hdhomeruns is also having issues. |

I am having the same issue with:
Ubuntu 9.10 Kernel version 2.6.31-17-generic 64 bit 32 bit Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04) SageTV 6.6.2, installed from the debian package I also tried downgrading java to the following version but still have the same issues: 32 bit Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_19-b02) Frustrated. Then to top it off, when I change channels, I get: Tue 2/23 15:03:46.474 [Seeker@796a61] SEEKER EXCEPTION THROWN:java.lang.NullPointerException Tue 2/23 15:03:46.474 [Seeker@796a61] sage.cf.run(Unknown Source) Tue 2/23 15:03:46.475 [Seeker@796a61] java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595) Any thoughts? I've been loyal to Sage for a couple years now, enduring lots of problems like this. About ready to dump Sage and get something that actually works on Linux without constant tweaking. Steve. |
