Fanart broke after SageTV reinstall
I reinstalled a fresh copy of SageTV on my WHS (6.5.16). After installing SageMC and BMT, none of the TV shows in my Videos folder are showing fanart. I setup the fanart folder to be pointed to by sagemc. The folder is set correctly and the fanart is there. What is the best way to make sure it points to my fanart directory?

Make sure you're using UNC paths for setting the fanart folder.

So, this still isn't working. Do I need to enable logging in BMT? Would that help me understand where the fanart breakdown is happening?

Make sure you have fanart set to display in group view

It works when I select a video and hit the Options key. It will download or rediscover the fanart immediately. But that gets a bit tedious.

Did you point the Central fanart folder setting in SageMC to your existing folder after the re-install?

Yeah, I did that.
I guess it would help if I understood how fanart works. Does Sage match Movie titles from the metadata to a folder in fanart or does it follow a relative path indicated in metadata back and forth. In other words, should it matter if I move a video file into a different folder and if I move it will sage find the fanart? |

Fanart works off the media title. It has to "munge" the title to remove any characters that are not valid filesystem characters. When fanart is requested for a media item, the fanart location is determined by concatenating the Central Fanart Folder, the media type (TV, Movies), the fanart type (Posters, Backgrounds, Banners) and a filename. So, for a movie title of "Finding Nemo", the Fanart location would be, "FANART_FOLDER/Movies/Finding Nemo/Posters/Finding Nemo.jpg". The actual .jpg name in the fanart folder is not important.
