Watching live TV the tuner pauses

SageTv is excellent apart from this possible over sight by the software
developers.

SageTv pauses 3-4 seconds in live TV, pausing occurs when SageTv
believes the show has finished and re tunes the channel this is annoying as TV programs in Australia over run scheduled times. This results in pauses near the end of the show being watched and you miss 4 seconds of the program.
Pausing when changing channels is to be expected but why should pausing occur when simply watching the same TV channel.
This pausing does not occur if the shows are recorded and watched latter.

To my knowledge PVR's and set top boxes do not pause while watching consecutive shows on the same channel.
Does anyone know how to eliminate this annoying SageTv feature.

If the pause you are talking about occurs only between shows, then it is the result of stopping recording to one file & starting recording to another. If the channel changes, then it can take longer depending on how long it takes to tune the channel.

You can stop retuning for the same channel in Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Always tune channel, but it defaults to being turned on so it doesn't sit on the wrong channel in case the previous IR tuning event did not work correctly.

This is the Issue.

Just to clarify Issue: I am watching the same live TV channel all day, every time a show on the channel is scheduled to finish (according to the station's EPG data )the picture pauses 3-4 seconds this is annoying.
But If the shows are recorded the pausing is not evident.
In time shift mode if I go backwards and replay the show no pausing is evident.
In live TV If I pause the show then wait 5 seconds and press play I can watch the show and no pausing occurs. but the next show will have the pause unless
I remember to delay the show playback as previously stated.
SageTv is not spouse friendly.
Is there any other work around with this issue.

As mentioned the pause between shows is due to the creation of a new file for each show. Other systems don't have it because they use a buffer file. Each has a pro/con. The pro's in Sage's way is that if you decide you want to keep the show you are watching live you can just press record and get the entire file, not just from the point you hit the button. The con is the pause.

The second part sounds like something I sometimes saw if I used reclock, or certain codecs to playback video. With reclock it was because the program was adjusting the video past the buffer and I figure that similar is happening with certain codecs not having that big of a buffer for playback. You can fix that with increasing videoframe/local_encoding_to_playback_delay by 1000 or more in the sage.properties file. It's in milliseconds, so 1000 is 1 second.
