Vista MCE or WIN7 MCE not working after SageTV install
The title say all, even latest v17 of SageTV manifest this problem. After SageTV install, when i start MCE and click on LIVE-TV, it remain at the search tv-tuner screen, and live-tv not starting.
This problem is quite old..... this is the second thread with this problem. Pls fix this. And huge memory leak with latest Beta, 200-400mb for Live-tv and 300-600mb for watching dvd. Last edited by reeven; 06-12-2009 at 11:17 AM. |

You can't run both. That isn't possible. You can't run them both because the tuners can't be shared Sage and WMC / VMC /W7MC. This isn't an issue of Sage, it is an issue with all hardware (programs can't share hardware if one program is already using it, ever tried ripping a DVD and try watching it at the same time? Doesn't work).

I do not say that i want to use in the same time Sage and VMC.
My exemple: Install Sage, make settings, etc, restart. Start VMC, go into Live-tv, live tv it's not starting, If i look into event i see this: Stvm2ve.ax crash Vista and Win7 Mediacenter http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41955 SageTV services are stopped. VMC are working with DVD, videos, recording, but not with LIVE_TV after SageTV install. And other problem is Sage TV always recording. I set an director for sage recording, if on live v i switch on 40 channels then on that director i found 40 .rec. SageTV always rec, not liking this. SageTV need an options to turn ON or OFF this settings, i never seen an PVR that rec always, and everything. I do not want that recs |

Definitely a bug in MCE. It shouldn't be crashing just because a filter is registered. It doesn't happen in all MCE configs since we can't reproduce it here. You can easily unregister the filter (its only used for SW encoding) by running 'regsvr32 /u stvm2ve.ax' from the command line with Admin privileges to work around the problem.

Thank you.
By the way, some of my friends try SageTv after my recommandation, they have the same problem, some on Vista, some on WIn7. I test Sage on Win7 RC7100, 7201, 7229. Righ now i want to install again to test this fix. Do i have problems with my Leadtek PxPVR2200( conexant one, hardware encoder), with this fix? http://www.leadtek.com/eng/tv_tuner/...lineid=6&act=2 |

Big problem, this problem still here with latest version of Sage, and RTm Win7 version, latest drivers, codecs, updates. etc.
But now, some king of different problem. SOmetimes Mediacenter started, but, even if Mediacenter and SageTV is OFF, the Windows Media Center Service consume 4-500mb ram after SageTV install. Same error: Faulting application name: ehRecvr.exe, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bccde Faulting module name: stvm2ve.ax, version: 7.4.0.27713, time stamp: 0x4807188e Exception code: 0xc0000094 Fault offset: 0x0000b93a Faulting process id: 0x1068 Faulting application start time: 0x01ca1f2c91a17c8f Faulting application path: C:\Windows\ehome\ehRecvr.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\SageTV\Common\stvm2ve.ax Report Id: e1646b71-8b1f-11de-9f6a-0019dbf90841 I could not uninstall stvm2ve.ax ... it tell me that " The module stvm2ve.ax could not be found. Help here , helP. Even if i stopped Windows Media Center Service and start it again as soon as i start Mediacenter Windows Media Center Service enter in action and consume 500mb ram, and Live-tv does not start at all in Mediacenter after SageTV install. EDIT: Even if i do not use Mediacenter at every startup ehcvr process consume 4-500mb ram and 20% from my Q9550@4Ghz. For the moment i put ehcvr to disabled, and i do not use MCE now.... If i uninstall Sage all are perfect with MCE, ehcvr consume 50mb, 0% processor. Last edited by reeven; 08-17-2009 at 10:58 PM. |

The problem is that ehrecvr.exe loads up filters that don't belong to them. If the filter's merit is set properly, it's not Sage's problem that the MS process mishandles it to cause a crash.
DirectShow provides the capability to blacklist filters as well, I reported this issue during the 7 beta and they told me to unregister the filter instead of addressing the problem the right way (using IAMGraphBuilderCallback). |

Well, this explains a lot. I have been messing around with Win7 MCE and noticed that it fails to find my tuner cards even when sage is completely shut down. MCE gives me an error message and tells me to restart the service. Not that I really want to use MCE, but at least I know it is not a hardware issue.
