Win7 as server, clients are XP

Before I bother trying this and fine out it doesn't really work, can SageTV server run on Vista or Windows 7 system, and then have SageTV clients from XP access the server?

Thanks,
- Eli

There should be no access problem with this.. though I would recommend if you are going to be running win7 on any of them, it might make MORE sense to have it on the client, as the video playback is MUCH improved in it over XP. The only other concern you might run into is capture card drivers. Some cards do not work in 64-bit, and some really old ones don't even have vista/7 support.

I was interested in Win7 partly due to some people saying the media center included is pretty good. I'll probably be running a 32-bit version, so hopefully that will be compatible.

I agree, Sage has been a good experience. The only problem is I cannot play video files with .srt subtitles easily. I tried to configure some of these plugins, but I run into problems.

o_o for some reason, subtitles (.srt) seem to work now, it loads ffdshow and directvobsub externally...I'll just hope the same thing happens when I migrate to windows 7.
