Sage at 40,000 feet

OK.... this is geeky but thought I'd report on the coolness factor.

I'm travelling from Atlanta to Richmond at this moment on a Delta flight with their on-board internet service.

Sage placeshifter works GREAT! I'm watching last night's "Tonight Show" without a glitch. I'm getting 400kbs.

Sorry, but I have to ask...

How much did that cost you?

Nothing. Delta gave the service away for 6 weeks to Platinum Medallion flyers. I wouldn't actually PAY for it :-)

i guess that depends on the in-flight movie!!

Just think, a buddy of mine at work with Sage suggested handing an HD200 to a flight attendant and say "hook it up" and you could actually give people on the plane a better choice!

That totally rocks. Awesome.

Personally, I would definitely pay. I was reading a WSJ article about how few people will pay for in-flight internet even if it's only $1. For me it's a no-brainer up to say $20.

I've done this quite a bit and performance really varies. When wi-fi first started on Delta, I never had issues streaming. Now that it's been a few months, I've found performance to be so-so...most likely because more people are using it and therefor hogging bandwidth. Still...very sweet

I did this in August when I flew to Salt Lake City. It cost $9.95 for the entire day. I didn't want to pay the money but I really wanted to try SageTv in flight. It worked very well at that time.
