HDPVR BlastCfg learn not working

I just received a new HDPVR rev E1 and hooked it up. Video capture via TotalMediaExtreme seems to work fine. Now I'm trying to get the HDPVR blaster to work. There are lots of threads about hooking the HDPVR blaster into SageTV. My problem is one step before that.

I can't get BlastCfg to learn. I'm using the latest rev of BlastCfg and a Motorola DCX3200 STB. When I point the remote at the HDPVR to learn the channel codes, it always replies with "ERROR: Learnkey(1) returned 1". I've tried it many different ways, it always fails.

My PC is Vista 32bit. I previously had a Hauppauge 2250 card installed. I tried removing the 2250 hardware in case that was affecting BlastCfg. Nope, still broken. I haven't tried removing any of the old 2250 drivers.

Any ideas ?

Thanks!

The Hauppague IR software will only support one device that has the IR blaster. (You can have more than one device but only one of the IR s will work.) If the HD-PVR isn't responding then try configuring the 2250. I would imagine you need to do a hwclear to remove all the hauppague drivers before starting with just the HD-PVR. And make sure you install the Hauppague software BEFORE you install the SageTV software. The SageTV install has a configuration to make the IR software work with it.

Thanks Gerry for the suggestion. After removing the 2250 hardware, I ran hcwclear then reinstalled all the HDPVR drivers/software and TotalMediaExtreme. I updated TotalMediaExtreme to the latest version and also updated the HDPVR drivers and Blastcfg to the latest version from the Hauppauge web site. I can capture HD tv using TotalMediaExtreme. So I know most if it is working.

Unfortunately BlastCfg still does not recognize the remote in Learn mode. I'm assuming the IR input on the HDPVR is the rectangular window on the front of the box, left side, just to the right of the power button/light.

During all these tests, the sage service and UI were not running.

Do you have any other remote (other than the Motorola) that you can try to see if it will learn as a test?

Yes, I also tried it with the remote for the DC50X. That's the cheapo STB Comcast gives out. No luck.

I have the same STB and had the same frustration. Rather than going through the Blaster 'Learn' process, which didn't work for me either, it finally dawned on me to try some of the other codes for Motorola boxes, since the DCX3200 is not listed. For the 18 Motorola models listed in BlastCfg, there are only 6 different codes--0080, 0081, 0082, 0084, 0085 and 0106. One of the models that use code 0082 worked for me, so I selected that one, and voila! I know it's 9 months later, but if you still haven't found a solution, it's worth giving 'er a try.
