Comskip Settings

I have Comskip (donator) version running on my new WHS system. I pointed it to the shared pool and had it process .mpg and .ts files. I then realized it was processing my hundreds of h.264 movies which take quite awhile and aren't really necessary for me to have processed.

What I would like to do is possibly seperate the .ts shows with commercials from the .ts movies and then point comskip to the non movie .ts files. I am not sure of the best way to do this on a WHS system with the pool. If I make another folder and move the .ts movie files to it manually won't it confuse both Sage and WHS?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

WHat program are you using to kick off Comskip? I use Dirmon2 and I have two separate installs to handle different settings for .mpg files and .ts files. Those .ts files would need to be in different directories to separate them. If all of your .ts files are in the SageTV recording directory how is any program going to tell the difference between a movie recording or a TV recording? ShowAnalyzer use to work with nielm's webserver so that you could tell it to ignore recordings from specific channels. You may also be able to do that with SJQ.

I am using Comskip Monitor to kick off Comskip. I recognize that no program could seperate movies from non ts movies, but while I am still learning WHS I am not sure how to separate them. Manually separating them is an acceptable option for me.

How is the best way to do this in WHS pool? Right now everything is in a shared pool folder called "Sage Recordings" with Comskip pointed at. Could I make another folder and call it Sage Movies and move all .ts movies there?

If so, how is the best way to do this for Sage and WHS?

I would think I would shut down Sage and Service
Create folder in WHS Console
Then move .ts movies on Sage Server through Windows Explorer?
What next? Does Sage need to be pointed at this new folder

As you can see I am a little lost here. If it was XP I would just create a movies folder, move them, point Sage to new folder as import directory.

I am also seeing an issue with Comskip running. Here is a paste of some error files. Why won't Comskip start?

Did you specify the full path for the comskip.ini in the command line option?

Like this:
Quote:
--ini=C:\Comskip-ts\comskip.ini

That should still work, you want to create the folder with the WHS console, that way you can make sure it's a share folder and allow folder duplication if you want, (plus if you just make it a sub-folder comskipmonitor may still try to monitor it). Then use Explorer from any computer to move the files to the new directory, then point Sage to the new import directory.

How do I crate a folder with Console on the XP machine? I have about 2 Tb of mpg and ts files on an XP machine on my network. I shared the folder in XP and I can see it and open the files through explorer on the Sage machine, but it won't add them as imports to the video portion of Sage.

It made my files for the ts so I believe it can access the files ok. When I tell it to scan manually the scan icon goes on for 1 second and then off. The log files show it looking at the remote folders also. I tried the setting to "false" aslo in properties.

I tried this and it did not work. I did an uninstall, removed all folders and files and completely started over. It is now working.

I am still looking for help on my .ts "non movie" files situation. I was thinking of making a new WHS shared folder called Movies and moving all .ts movies from the recording directory to this one. If I did this would I need to have Sage look at it as an import directory from then on?

I would then have Comskip process .ts files in the recording directory to capture the .ts non movie shows with commercials. It is not a perfect solution as recorded .ts files would still be placed in the recording directory and I would have to keep moving them over once in awhile or accept that Comskip will run on them.

Any thoughts? Do you run Comskip on your .ts files? I use DD and wonder if you have any tweaked settings for .ts files?

Thanks Again for your help!
