Simply play Blu-ray with extender

Hey folks, I am not interested in ripping BD's. I however, would like to play them off the server. Now I know I can play them locally, however, Is there anyway to stream from the disc in the server thru the extender W/o ripping the disc?

You'll see that people were having some playback issues (stuttering) back in March with some BDs - those issues all seem to have been resolved.

You can do this with many movies with a couple major caveats.

Currently Sage will only let you play one playlist from a blu-ray disc in your servers blu ray drive. That playlist is the longest one which is usually the main movie, but if that isn't the correct playlist you can't watch the main movie playlist without, at a minimum copying the disc to your hard drive.

Also, if the movie only has DTS audio tracks then your extender has to be hooked up to a stereo that can decode that audio track. If you don't play extender audio through a stereo then you have to rip/copy the movie to your hard drive and do some other finagling.

However, many (most?) movies are playable from the drive (Watchmen and Planet of the Apes are 2 that aren't.)
