Continuous problems with Live TV and recording glitches

I know a lot of people on here dont' care for live TV. However lots of users find it an important 'Basic' feature which must do the basics of watching TV before we had technology to be able to record and rewind.

Besides the annoying pause which isn't always quick and also still does not work correctly (in that when watching live TV it pauses and should continue from when it paused yet I always miss the 5 - 10 seconds of TV when it paused). I now am getting other problems.

Tonight while watching the live movie towards the end of the show it went overtime. And as per usual Sage went into its Pause routine. I gave it 5 seconds of black screen then 10 seconds went past then 20 and it never came back. Since the show was on the non HD channel as well i quickly switched to that to catch the end of the movie we were watching.

Firstly has anyway experience a similar problem? I have also been finding lately sometimes. I go to play a recording and either there is no sound and or the picture is blank and no sound. Then the next day i can select the same recording and it plays back fine. I thought by now hte software would be much more robust.

Anyone else had these issues? Or got any solutions?

Regards

Here's a thread where you can put your 2 cents in:

I used to have this happen sometimes, but haven't in many months. Are you running the latest SageTV software?

Info on your system would be helpfull to others who might respond to your post.

Thanks for the link. I have already added my 2 cents worth there. I do hope they fix it. Most of the other solutions available out on the market do not have this glitch. And It is definatley always longer than 2 seconds. I wouldnt mind if it paused if when it came back it played from where it paused. But playing from where it comes back and missing the ending of shows is very annoying.

Ok My system setup is. I am running the latest version of sage on my server being 6.62.218. I have a Hauppage HVR 2200 dual tuner card. I am running the firmware version of 20090702 0.

I do hope solutions to this will not be "Try upgrading to the latest beta" Becuase i have done this each time and the problems remain. They do not even address these issues in the release notes.

Last release I found the issue of rewinding where it would not rewind. Which they fixed. i have found a similar issue occurs sometimes till with rewinding in the latter versions again.

I was impressed with SageTV and htought it would have fewer problems than this.

Regards

I have that problem as well. Usually it's a 2-3 second pause when the show switches time blocks. It doesn't really bother me too much because it's at the end of the show but I've seen it a couple times where the pause will never continue. A quick stop x2 and click back on the guide will get it going again but it's frustrating for the wife who watches a lot of live TV.

Just another one of those things we live with I suppose.

I should also add, I'm still using the official Sage 6.4 release (i think) lol.
