Use MCE remote with HD theater
Hi guys,
About to order my HD Theater. Simple question that I haven't been able to find the answer... through Google and searching the forum. Can I use my MCE remote to control the HD Theater ? Do I need to do something special or there's a menu to select a type of remote like in "regular" SageTV ? |

Don't know about MCE but I use Hauppauge remotes and they work just as they are. At worst you would have to teach Sage each key.

I don't think you can reset the power on/off IR codes for the HD200. Everything else is probably doable, but that's a big drawback.
Why not just use a universal remote?

You will have to configure the remote in the sage setup area though. Pretty easy. Dave |

It depends on the MCE remote as well, some of them are JP1 enabled, which means you can make them turn the HD200 on. Under the battery cover, if it has 6 pins(in a 2x3 grid) then it's probably JP1 enabled.

Here's my remote. It's a GP-IR02BK
I was thinking about an Harmony too. Maybe the wife would like it to have just one remote ![]() |

It looks like that is a JP1 remote. You would need a cable(about $30 last I looked, a year ago), but you can program it to do anything. It's cheaper then a harmony remote.
