64 bit cyberlink h.264?
HI all;
I changed my computer to a win7 x64 machine and went to install codecs. I get a windows error when installing the cyberlink decoders (Error can't load). Can somebody point me in the direction for a x64 codec for Cyberlink that may work on my win 7 installation? I purchased Powerdvd 9, but can't utilize it's codec. Does anyone have any ideas? The Cyberlink codec on x32 seemed to me more stable than the others. I would like to be able to use it again. I seem to of got the codec to work with the exception of the audio being off. Does anyone have a suggestions to align the audio? I noticed something interesting. Codec was trying to install into windows\system32\codec and windows x64 7 would not let it install there. I just changed the dir where it's installing and it fixed my install problem. Thank You, RJ Last edited by bobsj2000; 10-30-2009 at 03:33 AM. |

I'm not sure, but I think Cyberlink blocks third-party applications from using their H.264 codec. This started in one of the later version of PowerDVD 8 I believe.

Also, for which player do you want to use such a 64 bit codec? Sage is (still) a 32 bit app, and thus uses 32 bit codecs.
Media Player and Media Center are 64 bit apps though (there are 2 WMPs, one 32 and one 64 bit). |

I had to manually run it as administrator with the final release. I got a similar error prior to doing the install as administrator.

Best Codec I found
HI again all, thank you for all your input. Here is what I found out. the Cyberlink codec has to be installed into a separate directory outside of c:\windows\system32 for it to install properly in win 7.
I found an even better codec though, using the recent native patch and the coreavc 1.95 codec, I get a silky smooth picture with synced audio! I think this is the best my sage system has ever functioned. I look forward to a little more testing with my system. Everything working great right now with H.264. Blu-ray playback is beautiful with no studders or video freezes.. Yay! RJ I thought I would mention, my HDPVR has not locked up once since updating to x64. DOn't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but I'll take it. I am running on a HD3200 platform with 4 gig of ram and 1 tb hdisk with 700mb formatted 64k blocks Last edited by bobsj2000; 10-30-2009 at 08:20 PM. |
