Sage Freezing when I access the Setup Menu

Every time I access the Setup Menu from SageMC my Sage freezes up. I get the circle of death and have no other choice but to kill the session. I went as far as deleting my entire Sage and reinstall. I reinstalled version 6.6.2 and the full version of SageMC 6.3.9a. I preserved my sage.properties and wiz.bin files. That did not solve my problem. I have a rather large video collection of dvds and BDs. Could the setup menu be initializing some scan of my media paths? Could someone please help.

I think the problem stems from the "Used Library Diskspace" and "Total Library Content". Each time I access the "Settings" menu those two fields are recalculated. The more folders I add to the media library the longer that calculation takes. Is there any way to suppress those fields from being calculated? This menu screen is the only way I see to access the SageTV Setup screen or the Detailed Setup screen from within SageMC. I checked the listed internal screens that I could add from the dynamic menu, but could not find them.

Maybe this...

I have the same issue - have had it for a looooonnnggg time. Countless hours and reinstalls lead me to this finding. When I have my cable modem enabled and Internet access is turned on, the setup menu works just fine. But as soon as I cut off Internet access, but leave the internal router/switch working between all local PCs, I get the spinning circle when I enter the setup menu.

No Internet at the Sage server = spinning wait circle at setup menu.
Internet at the Sage server = normal, fast setup menu

This only happens when I use the SageMC STV. I've long since forgotton at what version of the SageMC STV this first began.

Good luck,
AWS

Keep in mind that plugins that are needed in the default STV are built into SageMC. IMDB is one of them that needs to access the Internet. So if a library refresh needs to occurr this may also add to the delay.

My internet access is enabled for my Sage Server. It looks to me like the setup menu is doing some sort of refresh of my media libraries. The more folders I add to the media library the longer the delay becomes when I access the setup menu. Is there any way to disable this? This problem would not be a bad if I could access the Detailed Setup Menu from some other screen within SageMC, but I cannot find one. Is there a way to add the Detailed Setup screen to the Dynamic Menus Internal Screens list?

Has pre-release 19 improved this at all?

Aloha,

Running .19 now...

Well no joy for me but like what Gerry said above my delay in accessing and navigating the menu may be attributed to another plugin like IMDB trying to get to the Internet and not being able to... For whatever reason.

Thanks for your quick turn out of .19, though!

Well the update has stopped my Sage from freezing which is great. Accessing the Setup menu still starts a calculation of my media files which slows down access to them in the "My Videos" menu. Would it be possible to add an option in the SageMC Setup menu to turn off the calculations? Is there a reason for the calculations other than for just informational purposes? Thanks for the update.
