ATI 4670/Arcsoft/H.264/EVR No HA?
I just bought a new ATI 4670 and was surprised to see very high CPU usage when watching a Star Trek h.264 BR rip. My CPU was pegged at 70% and when I checked CCC I saw no activity in the GPU.
![]() I then ran the same video through Arsoft and CPU drops to 10%. ![]() So, no HA in Sage for some reason. I checked graphedit and I see that Arcsoft's decoder is showing a greyed out DXVA2. So playing through graphedit I get no HA either. However playing through the Arcsoft player gives me full HA. What gives? |

I had this problem, you can try what I did.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44541 Worked for me. Good luck! Edit: Forgot to mention I use XP and I use VMR9, I liked the card so much I got the same one for my daughters computer (vista) her settings require EVR to get the same results as me. Are you using direct show filter manager to change the filter settings? This is what I used to successfully change it.

Yes I used DSFM and when that didn't work I checked out RADlight. Something is preventing me from making any changes in Arcsoft's filter properties. Anything I change reverts back to the way it was when I opened the properties. I am on Win7 but I have UAC turned off so I didn't think that would be a problem.

you need a new update arcsoft decoder for your problem, for dxva 2.0 stay ON all the time.

What version of Arcsoft should I have? I installed the latest version of TMT3. Version160 I believe.

you cant use codecs from tmt3 , you need tmt 2 .
tmt 3 block arcsoft codecs to be used in another application, like sagetv, christv, mce, etc. |

This makes sense then. The funny thing is that I was getting Arcsoft working in SageTV but I wasn't getting HA. Well, after trying to register some old Arcsoft Video Decoders, I managed to break Arcsoft functionality in Sage altogether.
![]() I removed TMT3 entirely and reinstalled and updated to .160. This recovered TMT3 but the video decoders still don't work in Sage as you explained. So in the meantime, I loaded up DIVX's H.264 decoder because it at least allows playback of H.264 material BUT I don't think much HA is going on as my CPU is chugging at around 60%. I saw some directions on how to get TMT3 working in Sagetv but it looks very involved. All I really want is an HA enabled H.264 decoder and it doesn't have to be Arcsoft's. Does anyone know of one that works? Btw, I already tried MPC's H.264 decoders and it was filled with green, corrupted video. |

The Cyberlink HD.264 decoder pack should work with H.264.
I personally use CoreAVC. Its' not really HA (unless you count CUDA and have an Nvidia card).

You may want to check out "Antipack". It includes a free hardware accelerated h264 codec from the MPC-HC project. You can find it here along with a write up of what it is and how it works:
http://babgvant.com/blogs/andyvt/arc...g-your-pc.aspx The guy that published this is a frequent poster here on the Sage forums (under the name babgvant). You can also Google MPC-HC for more info about it (it is an open-source media player that includes codecs for many video formats).

However, I did manage to get lucky, I loaded an old copy of PDVD7 and managed to get HA back! ![]() ![]() |

If you are on Win7, I'd recommend trying out the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder. It is VERY capable, and I have had zero complaints with it, on a system far less than yours.

At first I tried this one as it was the only other decoder listed along with Arcsoft as being capable of H.264. Unfortunately, when I select it and play an h.264 file, it doesn't start playing. I only get a black screen with a timebar stuck at 0:00. So I haven't been able to evaluate it. Maybe the MS filter doesn't like something that precedes it?
