Send a message to an HD200?

How neat would it be to be able to send a message to an HD200 via either the web interface or some other mechanism? It could be hooked into to provide external-to-sage server messages, or for me to be able to send a message to someone watching tv...

Google tells me no such thing exists.

I'm only starting to get the hang of customizations, but does anyone think this is a worthwhile or impossible project? It might be a neat first project for me.

There is a STV by ShadeBlue that allows you to send messages that will pop up on the screen of clients and extenders. I personally use it for caller ID as well as custom messages using my home automation software. For example, it will pop up weather alerts if they are severe enough (so tornado warnings pop up, but most watches do not).

I use shades caller ID popup too and never thought about using it in the sending a message fashion, hmmmm pretty good idea when I'm to lazy to run upstairs to tell the wife to make me a sandwich.

Has anyone ever tried to make an import that would allow you to type messages in the UI and send them to other clients? IOW, a basic chat client. One problem I see already is that there doesn't seem to be a way to specify which listener to target. The message would pop up on all clients and extenders. I wonder if it would be possible to alter Shadeblues import to support listener ID's? Just thinking out loud here.

The software interface that I use has the ability to send the message to a specific client/extender or to all of them. So the ability exists. Honestly I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I think basically there is a entry in the sage.properties file that lists each extender by the mac address and the software is able to call on an individual device using this information.

Question

sic0048 what software interface do you use to send messages to specific extenders? I can only send them to all extenders through YAC.
