Garbled graphics in Placeshifter under Snow Leopard
Hello everyone, not sure whether to post here or under the Placeshifter section, but here goes....
I know this has been discussed before but I still don't see any definitive solution. I also have a couple of data points that may help pinpoint the cause. This issue relates to running Placeshifter on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.2, connecting to my server which is running Linux. I'm using Placeshifter version 6.6.2. Here's a description of the problem: Running Placeshifter on my local network: no problems Running Placeshifter remotely via the internet: main menu OK, but day/date garbled. All other menus garbled. Video displays ok (altho may need me to resize the window before it changes from quarter window size to full window size). OSD displays are garbled. I also have a G4 Powerbook also running 6.6.2, but using Leopard. This configuration has no problems connecting to the same server either via the local network or via the internet. Any suggestions? Thanks

My Placeshifter text is also garbled
It's a standard MacBook Pro and a new Placeshifter installation. The video looks good enough but everywhere there is text it is garbled. It's almost impossbile to use.
Any ideas? Thanks - Doc Edit - I don't know if it will work for everyone but the Placeshifter beta 6.6.2 cleaned up most of my text problems. There are still some fuzzy backgrounds to icons but the text is perfect. Last edited by dhodgesnvl; 02-28-2010 at 12:21 AM. |

Well I guess I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm running Placeshifter 6.6.2 also.
It's strange that all is well on my local network, I only have issues when I call home so to speak.

I had this issue s well and I was emailed an updated file from support that resolved this issue. I'd post it but I'm sure they rather that you get it from them (not to mention feeling safer about the origin of the file as well).

Thanks. I submitted a ticket so let's see what comes back.
BTW, just updated to 10.6.3 but no change.

I used appcleaner to remove it and then I reinstalled it and no more garbled letters. I installed the 6.6.2 beta version. I have 10.6.2
Give it a shot! |

Thanks for the suggestion. I deleted the old install, and also my trial of the Sage Client. Then installed 6.6.2 but I still have the problem.
I have 10.6.3 so I wonder if that is relevant? Also, what are the benefits of AppCleaner vs just trashing the Sage package? (I also removed some files in Application Support that I think were generated by the client). Thanks,

Hi,
appcleaner, a free app, deletes all the files associated with the app. Just dumping it in the garbage leaves lots of residue... Just in passing, using 6.6.2 placheshifter on a mac with sage 7 server removes all the garbled text ;-). You can actually choose the sagetv 7 xml and get the same interface as placeshifters on windows machines! |

Thanks, especially since I see the v7 is also available as a linux distro for my server.
I'm still trying to do some debug for tech support on v6 but will probably migrate to v7 asap.
