Why do Olympics Stutter?

i've been recording the winter olympic in HD and keep running up against an issue i can't get past. i recording hd via ota fusion divco card. the first ~2-1/2hrs of the bcst come across fine. but i start getting stutter and skip after this point. i've turned off comskip thinking this may be the problem but no joy. i've cut down the number simultaneous recordings to see it will solve the problem but still no joy. i don't seem to have the problem on shorter recordings. the files are growing to 20-23gb after 3.5hrs. the hdd is 1tb and only about 1/3 used. could the my issue be mpeg files that are growing too big? any other ideas on why stutter occurs late in each recording?

What are your system specs (CPU, memory, etc)? Is your video storage drive formatted with 64k blocks?

Can you try recording the Olympics with the HDHomerun with the NBC over the air channel?

I've been recording a lot of Olympic events, but haven't had time to watch most of them. I did watch the opening ceremony, and there was no stuttering there. Could you figure out which date / time ranges have the stuttering, then I could check if I also recorded that date / time range to determine if the network feed is the problem. If the local broadcaster is the problem, then someone from your local area would have to check their recordings for stuttering.

I've noticed that same issue on my system. No solution but I thought you should know that you're not the only one seeing this anomaly.

whew...thought it was only me. thanks for posting.

davephan, i'm pretty sure its not my local broadcaster...we are not seeing it when viewing realtime, only on recordings. i've been vaporizing old recordings so i'll try to remember to make a note of when it stutters again and convert that to realtime. thanks.

We've recorded just about all the Olympics. NBC on a HDHR (Charter qam), other channels on a HD-PVR (Dish network). Haven't had any studdering.

Count me in too

I was having really bad stuttering as well when watching the Olympics on NBC. This just started as well with the Olympics. Previously I had not not noticed any problem. It is frequent periodic freeze for a fraction of a second.

I have not eliminated it but very significantly reduced the frequency by downgrading the STV to one from 9/2009( I think. It's 2 down from most recent)

I'm running SageMC, running Overlay, Hardware acceleration, Reclock audio rendering, and ffdshow or AC3Filter for audio. Using A Hauppauge 2250 Clear QAM (Comcast)

Again, never had any issues with NBC before (Football season was fine)
