Looking For Codec / Decoder Checker Utility

Are there any utilities out there that can tell me what codecs or decoders are on my system as well as which ones are active?

Directshow filter manager, will show which filters are installed.

To determine the default filters (Most likely to hijack playback graphs), open Graphedit and select "Render file" from menu. The filters used by Graphedit either have the highest merit value or are behaving poorly (Hijacking).

Strongly recommend the least number of installed filters.

Should GraphEdit be able to graph a .TS file? When I try to render mine I get the following error...
"Could not construct a graph from this file......The file format is not supported"

In Graphedit add SageTV's MpegDeMux.ax to the graph manually and then try "render file". It has been awhile sense I have done this and it is hard to do from memory. But the problem is that the "File" demux "default" filter is not capable of TS. Again the "Default" demux is the filter with the highest merit value.

What OS are you using?

Another alternative. From the second link in post #2 of this thread...
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47118
... states "MediaInfo is the easiest way I've found to tell me what codec a file uses"
The posts (all 3) in general are a good read for codecs/decoder info.

I tried it out and identified that the .TS file used AVC but it didn't seem to indicate which one (ArcSoft, PureVideo, Sonic...) unless I'm missing something.

I really think I have a codec / renderer issue and I think I'm going to try un-installing my codecs and starting from scratch (I'll start another thread for this)

Thanks everyone for your help.
