WHS Indexing
I post to SAGETV because I can't find the answer anywhere else, and you guys "seem" pretty darn smart.
I'm running SageTV on WHS with a boot drive ('C') that is 20 gigs. I have recently run out of space on my C drive. I investigated and found the following file at over 7gigs C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\SystemIndex.Ntfy4178.gthr After some search I found that this is an indexing file for Microsoft Search. I have disabled indexing on all of my hard drives (I have two in WHS 'C', and 'D' which is all my pooled drives). But can't find a way to get rid of this file. Its locked and will not allow me to delete. I don't see any indexing services running in my processes either. I have also run the "clean up drive" and it does not list any indexing files to remove. |

Ok, i did find systemIndexer process running (forgot to click "show processes from all users", this allowed me to delete the HUGE file. If anyone else has had any experiences with this it would be good to hear. hate to think I did something wrong but killing the process and deleting the file.

Glad you figured it out. You might want to put the index file onto a drive other than C: to avoid this in the future. Although, if you don't use the search feature, then completely disabling it is surely the proper course of action.

Check out the little magnifying glass by the clock and open up options, then go to the advanced options.
